About The Position

Copperweld is seeking a motivated, team-oriented Director of Powergrid Sales to lead Copperweld’s commercial efforts across the Power Grid and renewable energy sectors, overseeing a team of Regional Sales Managers and driving strategic growth initiatives. The Director is responsible for developing and executing national sales strategies, building and maintaining key industry relationships, and strengthening Copperweld’s leadership in both utility infrastructure and emerging renewable applications. This position will mentor and develop the sales team, manage performance metrics, and collaborate cross-functionally with product development, marketing, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, results-driven leader with deep industry expertise and a passion for advancing energy infrastructure solutions. This role reports to Copperweld’s President of Utilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or related field required
  • 10+ years of experience in wire and cable sales, at least 5 years in a leadership role with exposure to renewable energy or utility infrastructure strongly preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution sales within the utility or energy sectors.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical and creative mindset with a high attention to detail and adaptability.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, and ERP systems strongly preferred.
  • CRM experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA preferred but not required.
  • 10+ years of experience in wire and cable sales, at least 5 years in a leadership role with exposure to renewable energy or utility infrastructure strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team focused on power grid and renewable energy markets fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results.
  • Set and manage annual sales and EBITDA targets across all territories and product lines.
  • Develop and execute national go-to-market strategies, including market segmentation, strategic account planning, and channel optimization.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders including electric utilities, EPCs, engineering firms, renewable developers, and contractors.
  • Drive product specification adoption and brand awareness for Copperweld products in solar, wind, battery storage, and traditional grid applications.
  • Oversee and optimize the performance of manufacturing representatives and distribution partners to ensure alignment with Copperweld’s commercial objectives and customer expectations.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive activity to inform strategic decisions.
  • Represent Copperweld at major industry events, serving as a thought leader and brand ambassador.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align sales strategies with product innovation, operations, and customer support.
  • Provide regular performance updates and strategic insights to the executive team.
