About The Position

An established, Joint Commission–accredited rural hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead pharmacy operations and clinical services. This role offers the opportunity to combine strategic leadership with hands -on impact in a close -knit healthcare environment dedicated to exceptional patient care. The Director of Pharmacy plays a critical leadership role in ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication management while supporting organizational goals, staff development, and evidence -based clinical practice. The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operation of the pharmacy department. This includes clinical oversight, regulatory compliance, staff management, budgeting, and quality improvement. The role ensures pharmacy services align with clinical, legal, ethical, and organizational standards while supporting high -quality patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current Utah Pharmacist License (active and in good standing).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy school.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in hospital or healthcare pharmacy operations.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, medication safety, and clinical standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision -making skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Prior experience leading pharmacy operations in a hospital or rural healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all pharmacy department activities to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals, policies, and performance standards.
  • Oversee daily operations including patient care delivery, service levels, and issue resolution.
  • Integrate evidence -based practices into pharmacy operations and clinical protocols.
  • Plan, hire, orient, train, evaluate, and develop pharmacy staff.
  • Manage scheduling, performance reviews, corrective actions, and continuing education.
  • Foster a professional environment that supports growth, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, HIPAA, state and federal pharmacy laws).
  • Coordinate and lead internal and external audits.
  • Maintain quality assurance and medication safety initiatives.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage the pharmacy department budget.
  • Ensure operations remain within allocated funding while maintaining service quality.
