New England Life Care is hiring a Director of Pharmacy to join our growing team! This is a full–time, salaried, exempt position with a normal Monday – Friday schedule. Job Summary: Responsible for the overall clinical, operational, and fiscal management of NELC’s pharmacy services.

Requirements

Professional license required, (RPh)
Minimum of four (4) years’ management experience required.
Demonstrated leadership skills required.
Excellent interpersonal skills required.

Ability to define problems, collect / analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions required.
Ability to communicate effectively with all customers and at all levels of the NELC organization verbally and in writing required.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in home infusion preferred.
Working / practical knowledge of microcomputer systems including patient documentation systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), automated pharmacy systems, and IV Laminar flow Hood preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensures that the overall management of pharmacy services are aligned with the clinical, operational, and fiscal objectives of the company, including NELC’s mission and the high-quality standards expected of NELC by its member hospitals; conduct actionable report-outs regularly to COP with frequency determined by COO or COP, as appropriate.
Champions patient safety, care, and service always.
Guarantees that pharmacy services are provided in a professional, safe, and cost-effective manner ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Develops the annual department operating budgets with the assistance of the directors of pharmacy and in close collaboration with the finance department.
Performance Monitoring: Setting performance metrics and evaluating the branches against these benchmarks to ensure that each pharmacy is meeting the desired performance levels within the constraints of the operating budget. (Includes measuring & improving productivity, standardization of staffing ratios, standardization or pharmacy processes & overall continuous improvement)
Regulatory Compliance: proper acquisition, compounding, dispensing, storage, delivery, and administration of all drug products used in the treatment of the organization's patients, as well as the proper use of related equipment and supplies. Works with the directors of pharmacy to ensure compliance of the pharmacy department with TJC, State and Federal regulations. Ensures all requirements of 797 are met or exceeded in all sites.
Technology Implementation: Overseeing the adoption of new pharmacy technology and information systems for more efficient operations and better patient care.
Participates in the development of and ensures achievement of goals and objectives outlined in the annual operating plan and budget.
Participates in the ongoing review and development of pharmacy policies and procedures ensuring policies comply with all state federal and regulatory requirements.
Provides appropriate guidance and supervision of directors of pharmacy.
Ensures department is appropriately staffed to fulfill NELC services and members and support company growth strategy.
Assists in the development of new services as required by the changing market conditions and member hospital needs.
Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of the system for distribution of pharmacy services within budgetary guidelines, taking into consideration changing market conditions, corporate mission, and philosophy.
Effectively collaborates with all members of the senior leadership team.
Actively participates and provides leadership to subordinate staff in forming and maintaining positive relationships and fostering a team atmosphere.
Actively participates in maintaining positive working relationships with key clinicians and administrators at member hospitals.
Ensures effective and timely support from the pharmacy department to the reimbursement department relative to billing issues, appeals, etc.
Facilitates review, revision, and implementation of NELC’s policies and procedures ensuring that they are in compliance with federal, state and JC regulatory standards
Facilitates/participates in the ongoing education of all NELC staff related to changes in policies and procedures related to government regulations and Joint Commission standards.
Exhibits awareness and understanding of the ethical principles consistent with the mission and values of the company.
Ensures that policies, procedures, and staff education are in place to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all protected health information at NELC.
Participates in providing ongoing quality assurance reporting to NELC’s senior management team.
Maintains a working knowledge of relevant issues, laws and regulations affecting NELC’s operation.
Reviews all pharmacy Occurrence Reports and Customer Complaints for risk management potential and trends.
Oversee clinical chart audits to ensure that all audits are being completed using the designated guidelines. Provides summary reports to management team as necessary to ensure ongoing compliance with documentation guidelines.
Keeps abreast of current developments related to state, federal and JC standards.
