JOB DESCRIPTION: Position Overview In partnership with functional leaders, this role is accountable for developing and executing strategic operational plans across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and talent. This highly visible position serves as the face of our operations team when engaging with business teams, senior leaders, external suppliers, and functional groups. The leader in this role sets the vision for the future, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and elevates team performance and plant culture through proactive employee development and engagement. Site Overview Campus: 4-building facility with fabrication and paint lines separate from assembly Employees: Approximately 780 Products: Fully customizable Andersen Windows and Doors product line Near-Term Focus: Stabilize operations through audits, safety/quality improvements, process visibility, and leadership enablement Mid-Term Focus: Integrate and optimize workflows using lean principles, digital tools, and workforce development Long-Term Vision: Transform into a sustainable, future-ready operation via layout reconfiguration and strategic partnerships Scope of Accountabilities Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day operations of a large, complex plant with multiple value streams and functional areas. Achieve budgeted and strategic performance expectations in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people KPIs. Strategic Planning: Serve as business owner for the plant. Lead opportunity identification and strategic plan development. Define key improvement initiatives, establish a multi-year capital plan, and outline operating targets in SQDCP. Leverage lean principles to deliver results and margin improvement. Employee Engagement: Be highly visible to associates, create a safe environment for participation, and promote hands-on management and high-involvement problem-solving. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Operate within a highly matrixed organization, building strong relationships with corporate and functional leaders. Influence business teams and functional groups to achieve plant objectives. Supplier Connectivity: Maintain strong relationships with internal sourcing and purchasing teams and key external suppliers to proactively address and improve operational issues. Performance Standards: Align with functional leaders to set vision for work standards and metrics (safety, quality, cost, delivery, people). Establish cadence to monitor results and drive continuous improvement year over year. Financial Stewardship: Lead fiscal budget development and execution. Partner with Engineering on capital projects to maximize productivity and quality outcomes. Talent Strategy: Collaborate with HR to develop and execute a comprehensive talent strategy focused on attraction, development, engagement, and retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, operational leadership, or related field
  • 10–15 years in manufacturing or related industries
  • 10+ years leading large and complex manufacturing operations
  • 5–7 years in leadership roles (e.g., Plant Manager, Ops Manager, Director of Manufacturing), preferably managing >500 indirect employees
  • 5+ years leading Lean manufacturing projects
  • 5+ years partnering on large capital projects ($500M+)
  • Proven ability to build and execute strategic plans to improve SQDCP metrics
  • Experience presenting complex topics and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Expertise in cost accounting, budgeting, and financial justification (IRR/ROI)
  • Familiarity with automation, IoT, ERP systems
  • Demonstrated success in Kaizen facilitation and daily management systems
  • Strong background in safety strategy development and implementation
  • Experience leading others and developing future leaders
