About The Position

The Director of Operations will serve as the operational leader within the Corrections Health ICCE at MUSC, supporting both the System Administrative Officer (SAO) and Chief of the Corrections Health ICCE. This role will drive strategic growth and operational excellence for both county jail and prison healthcare contracts. The Director will lead business development for jails—meeting with county administrators, attending jail conferences, managing the Request-for-Proposal (RFP) bidding process, and overseeing daily operations at contracted jail facilities. Concurrently, the role will focus on expanding contract operations for the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC), including launching and managing onsite units (infirmaries, specialty clinics, dialysis units), developing new acute care units, and expanding onsite specialty services. With a portfolio spanning both jail and prison correctional units, this role will ensure MUSC’s correctional health programs deliver outstanding performance, strong partnerships, and sustainable growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or related field required (Registered Nurses with a BSN and relevant clinical experience are strongly encouraged to apply); Master’s preferred.
2 years of correctional healthcare management preferred.
Demonstrated success in contract development, RFP management, and healthcare business growth.
Strong analytical and budgeting skills with experience managing multi-site operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; adept at engaging with executives and correctional leaders.
Knowledge of correctional healthcare systems highly preferred.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with frequent travel throughout the state.
The ideal candidate will be located in Columbia, SC and/or the surrounding area.
9 years progressive work experience and 4 years management experience
