About The Position

The Director of Network Analytics is a senior leadership role responsible for establishing and leading the analytics strategy for FiberLight’s network environment. This role oversees the collection, analysis, and application of data across network operations to drive performance optimization, reliability, automation, capacity planning, and strategic decision-making. The Director will partner closely with Network Engineering, Operations, and Executive Leadership to ensure data-driven insights guide key initiatives and long-term architectural planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering, network operations, data analytics, or related roles.
  • 5+ years in leadership roles managing technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of network architectures (LAN/WAN, DWDM, cloud networking, routing/switching).
  • Hands-on experience with analytics, observability, AIOps, and automation tools (e.g., SolarWinds Orion, Splunk, Elastic, Grafana, ThousandEyes, Kentik, DataDog, etc.).
  • Proficiency with network data formats (NetFlow, SNMP, telemetry), SQL and NoSQL databases, and data pipelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python, APIs, automation frameworks, or ML tools is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive network analytics strategy aligned with business and technology objectives.
  • Define and own KPIs, SLAs, SLOs, and health metrics across all network infrastructure domains.
  • Lead transformation of network operations from reactive to predictive, leveraging analytics, AI/ML, and automation.
  • Build models to identify performance trends, service degradation, outage precursors, and optimization opportunities.
  • Work with NOC, Engineering, and Architecture teams to improve incident detection, reduce MTTR, and prevent outages.
  • Implement analytics-driven root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement processes.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging tools such as AIOps, digital twins, automation frameworks, and predictive analytics engines.
  • Drive adoption of APIs, streaming telemetry, and automation for data extraction, integration, and decision-making.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of data engineers and network analysts.
