Purpose Statement: The Director of Medical Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all medical service lines at N.E.W. Community Clinic. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and patient-centered care in alignment with the organization's mission to serve underserved, underinsured, and uninsured populations. The Director is accountable for clinical operations excellence, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and continuous quality improvement while advancing sustainable growth and community impact. Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Medical Services oversees the day-to-day operations of the medical department across all clinical locations. This position leads program implementation, manages key performance indicators related to quality and financial outcomes, supports provider and staff development, and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and funding requirements (including HRSA, NCQA, CLIA, and Vaccine for Children). The Director partners with internal leadership and community stakeholders to improve patient access, strengthen care delivery systems, and advance innovative service models. This role supervises designated program areas, including Healthcare for the Homeless and Physical Therapy services, and collaborates closely with leadership to support strategic growth and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Must have a minimum of three-five years working in a Leadership position and experience working with patients in a medical clinical or hospital setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to effectively coordinate day-to-day activities.
  • Able to work cohesively with management.
  • Coordinate, develop and maintain good relationship with co-workers, public, and community agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the implementation and alignment of medical programs across all service lines to expand patient access, improve care coordination, and optimize service utilization.
  • Partners with executive and clinical leadership to design and advance integrated care pathways aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Proactively identifies operational barriers and implements solutions to improve workflow efficiency, service delivery, and patient experience.
  • Oversees onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives to ensure staff competency, clinical excellence, and adherence to established care models.
  • Directs clinical quality review processes, including competency assessments and performance evaluations, to ensure fidelity to clinical standards and continuous improvement.
  • Provides structured performance feedback and competency summaries to support staff development and accountability.
  • Drives continuous quality improvement initiatives through data analysis, process evaluation, and implementation of system-level enhancements.
  • Represents the Medical Department in leadership meetings and community forums, providing operational updates and promoting program initiatives.
  • Analyzes program evaluation data and prepares comprehensive clinic-level and system-wide performance reports for executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Oversees staffing models and scheduling practices to ensure optimal patient coverage, fiscal responsibility, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Provides operational oversight of pharmaceutical management processes to ensure regulatory compliance and safe medication practices.
  • Serves as a representative of the organization in community partnerships and internal committees to strengthen collaboration and community engagement.
  • Develops and manages the annual operating budget; ensures fiscal accountability and provides regular financial and performance reporting to the CEO.
  • Monitors and manages key performance indicators related to quality, access, productivity, and financial outcomes; implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Provides leadership oversight to the Physical Therapy program within the Medical Department to ensure operational integration and quality standards.
  • Oversees the Healthcare for the Homeless program in collaboration with program leadership to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and community needs.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and funding requirements, including Vaccine for Children (VFC), CLIA, NCQA, HRSA, and infection prevention standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support organizational priorities.
