Location: South San Francisco, CA. Position Summary: We are seeking a Director of Medical Communications and Information to join IDEAYA’s Medical Affairs team. The Director of Medical Communications and Information is a key role within IDEAYA’s Medical Affairs organization, responsible for driving the strategy and execution of medical communications and overseeing the Medical Information function. This role leads the development of evidence-based, fair-balanced medical information, support the set up and management of contact center operations and the Medical Information Management System, and provides scientific oversight for publications, external-facing materials, and training for field and contact center staff. Collaborating cross-functionally, this individual ensures alignment of medical initiatives with corporate objectives and delivers high-quality scientific information to internal and external stakeholders. This position is based in our South San Francisco headquarter offices and required to be onsite four days per week per our company policy.

Requirements

  • Minimum graduate degree. Advanced degree is preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD)
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Medical Affairs or relevant fields, specifically in Medical Information and Medical Communication functions within the therapeutic areas
  • Demonstrated success in implementation of medical communications and medical information initiatives
  • Exhibited flexibility and efficiency in delivering results under high pressure conditions, compressed timelines and limited resources
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex non-interventional study projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Medical Information contact center and implementation of the Medical Information Inquiry Management System, including vendor selection, implementation, training, oversight, and performance management, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely responses.
  • Conduct regular scientific trainings for contact center staff to ensure knowledge is current with the latest clinical and scientific data
  • Provide strategic leadership for development and maintenance of global medical information resources, including SRLs, FAQs, literature searches, and verbal response content.
  • Oversee intake, documentation, and response to unsolicited inquiries from healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain knowledge repositories, scientific reference libraries, and ensure content reflects current clinical and scientific evidence.
  • Monitor inquiry trends and performance metrics to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement, report outcomes to senior management.
  • Serve as Medical Reviewer in the MLR process and lead SOP/process development to ensure compliance and inspection readiness.
  • Support congresses, compendia submissions, and companion diagnostic-related medical information needs.
  • Lead scientific and medical communication strategies, including disease state, product, competitive, field, and congress-related training.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment, accuracy, and consistency of medical content.
  • Represent IDEAYA externally with authors, journals, scientific societies, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and review AMCP dossiers, external-facing materials, and field resources to support MSLs and market access strategies.
  • Provide medical input and review for promotional and non-promotional materials.
  • Monitor emerging scientific literature and clinical data to guide communication strategy.
  • Support broader Medical Affairs initiatives, including publications, congress resources, and medical education activities.
