The Director of Information Technology at Zak Designs directs and coordinates development and production activities of the Information Technology Department by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Manages IT staff; manages the setup, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, Macs, telephones, iPhone, iPad, software applications and peripherals. Manages the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology Department staff. Plans Company’s information technology needs and strategy. Interfaces with corporate management on Information Technology capabilities and requirements and corporate direction. Responsible for developing, implementing and supporting both short- and long-term information technology plans. Provides expertise and support during system upgrades, installations, conversions and file system maintenance. Oversees systems development, enhancements and integrations of new systems with existing systems. Develops the IT staff to meet the changing needs of users, groups and offices, new projects and technologies. Develops training guides and best practices, including providing written procedures and guidance to IT staff and to end-users. Oversees provisions of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services. Keeps current with the latest technologies and determines that new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements. Helps manage financial aspect of the IT Department, including purchasing, budgeting and budget review. Develops and implements all IT policies and procedures, including those for security, disaster recovery, purchasing and service provisions. Manages servers, network hardware and equipment. Manages telecommunications infrastructure. Negotiates and administers vendor, consulting contracts and service agreements. Supports Zak Designs’ overall mission and follows all standards, policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines. Confers with department heads involved with proposed projects to ensure cooperation and further define new projects, or system enhancements. Develops computer and communications systems including telecommunications, internet, intranet, telephone, iPhones, iPads, Mac computers and related systems. Cross-trains all positions within the IT Department to ensure 100% business coverage. This may be during other than normal work hours. Other related duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
