About The Position

The Director of Individual Giving will develop and implement strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors at all levels to support the mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County. This position will lead annual giving campaigns, oversee donor communications and recognition, and establish a major gifts and legacy giving program. Working collaboratively with the Director of Corporate Partnerships & Events and the Community Partnerships & Grants Manager, this role ensures a balanced and sustainable revenue stream by deepening personal relationships with individual supporters, alumni, and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; CFRE or similar credential a plus
  • Minimum 5 years in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development
  • Proven success managing a portfolio of donors and securing major gifts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with storytelling expertise
  • Excellent relationship management, strategic planning, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., DonorPerfect)
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends for events and donor engagements

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for raising $500K–$1.2MM annually; specific targets set each fiscal year.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive individual giving strategy, including annual fund, major gifts, recurring giving, and planned giving.
  • Meet and/or exceed annual income goals and work within or below annual expense goals.
  • Support development and tracking of the annual individual giving resource development budget.
  • Ensure accurate donor recordkeeping, reporting, and acknowledgment processes in coordination with Finance and Development teams.
  • Collaborate with Development and Marketing teams to build a multi-channel fundraising plan that strengthens donor retention and acquisition (direct mail, digital, social media, events, peer-to-peer).
  • Establish cultivation strategies across all facets of individual giving.
  • Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors and prospective investors.
  • Segment donor audiences to tailor communications, appeals, and engagement experiences.
  • Partner with Corporate and Community Development counterparts to ensure a unified donor journey and stewardship calendar.
  • Participate in weekly Development & Marketing meetings to coordinate outreach, stewardship, and events.
  • Partner with BGCA RD resources and peer connections at other Boys & Girls Clubs for share & reapply.
  • Leverage BGCA tools and resources, such as market screening and wealth screening, as part of a comprehensive prospecting strategy.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, focusing on moves management and relationship building.
  • Develop personalized engagement plans for major donors and annual fund supporters.
  • Create and lead donor engagement opportunities, such as Club tours, donor receptions, and impact storytelling moments.
  • Oversee donor recognition programs (Impact Reports, thank-you communications, newsletters, spotlight features, etc.).
  • Coordinate the annual year-end giving campaign, including Giving Tuesday, EOY appeals, and online fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate with program staff to capture impact stories and data that demonstrate donor ROI and mission alignment.
  • Design and implement a Major Gifts program, including cultivation events, solicitation strategies, and legacy giving opportunities.
  • Reinstate and lead the Heritage Club in coordination with Finance and Development teams.
  • Develop proposals and materials that communicate giving levels, recognition opportunities, and long-term impact.
  • Identify and manage a pipeline of potential major donors, including parents, alumni, and community members.
  • Partner with the CEO on top-tier donor solicitations and relationship stewardship.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential donor records in the CRM system.
  • Develop dashboards and tracking tools to analyze giving patterns, donor retention, and campaign performance.
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts and compliance with all gift processing policies.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to engage the Board and Development Committee in individual giving initiatives.
  • Train and support Board members in donor stewardship and solicitation best practices.
  • Provide regular updates on donor metrics, campaign progress, and fundraising goals.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to develop storytelling assets that inspire giving and highlight impact.
  • Lead creation of donor-centered communications (appeals, newsletters, stewardship reports).
  • Ensure consistent branding, messaging, and donor voice across all channels.
  • Serve as a thought partner in shaping the overall development strategy and culture of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Model and promote the organization’s trauma-informed values: dignity, inclusion, emotional safety, empowerment, and relationship-building.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure fundraising aligns with program needs and organizational priorities.
