The Director of Human Resources is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing the organization's people strategy in alignment with its mission, values, and business objectives. With a minimum of ten years of progressive HR experience, the Director leads all aspects of human resources operations — including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, and organizational development. This individual serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and a champion for employees at all levels. Performs additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources or related field
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent senior HR certification
  • Demonstrated experience across all core HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, and compliance
  • Experience managing and developing HR teams of varying sizes
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and executive presence skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-informed mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and drive organizational change
  • Deep knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • High degree of discretion, integrity, and professional judgment
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Proven track record of building and scaling HR functions in a growing organization
  • Ability to lead and supervise a team
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop training programs; ability to facilitate training sessions
  • Knowledge of interview types (i.e., situational, behavioral, etc.) and ability to create questions based on type that effectively screen candidates
  • Ability to create recruitment strategies and candidate pipelines
  • Demonstrated time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks effectively

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to HR technology platforms (HRIS, ATS, LMS) and data analytics tools
  • Ability to act with high emotional intelligence; ability to see perspectives from both management and employees

  • Strategic HR Leadership
  • Partners with the executive team to define and implement a forward-looking HR strategy that supports organizational growth and culture.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor on workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design.
  • Analyzes HR metrics and data to identify trends and inform data-driven decisions.
  • Leads change management initiatives to support organizational transformation.
  • Employee Relations
  • Serves as primary point of contact for employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances.
  • Conducts investigations into workplace complaints and recommends appropriate resolutions.
  • Promotes and reinforces company culture.
  • Talent Acquisition & Retention
  • Oversees full-cycle recruitment efforts to attract and retain top-tier talent across all functions.
  • Develops and executes employer branding strategies to strengthen the organization's market position.
  • Builds and maintains diverse talent pipelines through partnerships with universities, professional associations, and community organizations.
  • Designs competitive compensation structures and total rewards programs to drive retention.
  • Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Fosters a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture.
  • Manages complex employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Develops and implements employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and recognition programs.
  • Serves as a visible and approachable resource for employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensures organizational compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains and updates HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
  • Oversees the management of leaves of absence, accommodations, and workers' compensation programs.
  • Partners with legal counsel on employment litigation and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Learning, Development, & Performance
  • Designs and implements performance management frameworks, including goal-setting, reviews, and feedback processes.
  • Identifies organizational learning needs and develops targeted training and leadership development programs.
  • Builds and maintains career pathing frameworks to support internal mobility and growth.
  • Coaches and mentors HR Generalist and people managers across the organization.
