About The Position

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for HR strategy around the implementation of employment law standards, company policies, procedures, and guidelines related to workplace conduct and performance management. This role serves as a business partner on employee relations, payroll, recruiting, and benefits issues with all levels of leadership, from senior executives to staff at all levels within the company. The Director will provide direction and assist department leaders with employment-related strategic planning and implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in a Human Resources Management role, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources, EEO, and Fair Employment practices.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to human resources.
  • Exceptional leadership, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and present things professionally.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); HRIS, Workday experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel to all company locations, including Wheeling, WV; Chino, CA; Denver, CO; Lockhart, TX; and the Armstrong Group Corporate Office in Butler, PA.

Nice To Haves

  • PHR/SPHR Certification preferred.
  • HRIS, Workday experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core member of the leadership team, shaping organizational growth and transformation.
  • Provide direction and assist department leaders with employment-related strategic planning and implementation.
  • Lead HR strategy around employment law standards, company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Manage employee relations, payroll, recruiting, and benefits issues.
  • Performance management, career development, and succession planning.
  • Promote our Vision, Mission, and Strategy to all employees.
  • Foster a workplace environment with a “can do” attitude and motivate team members to achieve stretch goals.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives.
  • Serve as Employee Advocate, monitoring employee sentiment and conducting union avoidance training.
  • Ensure legal compliance by reviewing federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Coach and guide Human Resources and management in areas of compliance, process improvement, and managing separations with fairness.
  • Implement training and programs to comply with environmental regulations and ensure a proactive safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with EEOC, DOL, and other state and federal agencies.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
