About The Position

Terra Vista Management seeks an experienced and talented Human Resources Director to lead the HR function companywide. This role is responsible for developing and managing all HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure they are effective, empathetic, and compliant with all legal requirements and organizational values. It builds and enhances HR infrastructure through effective policies, procedures, and internal controls. The HR Director oversees staff, enhances the employee lifecycle (recruitment, benefits, retention), and aligns HR strategy with TVM’s operational objectives.

Requirements

  • Advanced supervisory, leadership, prioritizing, and delegation skills.
  • Advanced employee relations skills, serving as the primary point of contact for the company’s response to employee complaints and conducting investigations.
  • Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, characterized by patience and professionalism.
  • Advanced time management and process to meet deadlines; strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; adaptability.
  • Thorough knowledge of California employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn TVM's HRIS and records management systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Dynamics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least ten years of human resource management experience with progressively increasing HR responsibilities.

  • Master’s degree in HR Management, Organizational Dynamics, Business Administration or a related field, or a Law degree.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand organizational goals and develops, coordinates, and implements HR policies, processes, training, and initiatives to support the organization's talent strategy, compliance, and needs.
  • Builds and enhances HR infrastructure through effective policies, procedures, and internal controls and administers or oversees core HR programs, including:
  • Compensation, benefits, and leaves of absence.
  • Disciplinary matters, disputes, and prompt, thorough, and impartial workplace investigations with accurate documentation and appropriate resolution.
  • Performance, talent management, productivity, and morale.
  • Rewards, recognition, occupational health and safety.
  • Develops, maintains, and trains managers and supervisors on California and federal–compliant policies, including recruiting and hiring, wage and hour regulations, labor code requirements, anti-harassment and anti-discrimination standards, onboarding, termination, and personnel file management.
  • Designs and delivers training for all employees on such required topics as harassment and discrimination prevention and privacy as well as HR best practices.
  • Identifies staffing needs and develops and executes best practices for companywide hiring and talent management.
  • Has thorough knowledge of California employment-related laws.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including required postings, employee notices.
  • Identifies HR compliance risks and implements proactive, preventive measures.
  • Prepares for and responds effectively to audits, agency complaints, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Reviews and modifies policies to maintain continuous compliance.
  • Stays abreast of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR and employment law (in consultation with legal counsel); applies this knowledge to communicate policy and resource changes to upper management.
  • Develops and implements the departmental budget(s) for HR.
  • Collaborates closely with payroll manager to ensure accurate, timely wage payments and compliant pay practices.
  • Facilitates ongoing professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
