About The Position

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non-profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services not only include basic medical care, but also dental, optometry, behavioral health services, fitness, nutrition, and other family programs. Our mission is to provide excellent healthcare to American Indians. We do this by putting people first, providing quality services, and maintaining our Integrity and Professionalism. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Human Resources with a proven track record in healthcare operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in compensation strategy, provider and staff credentialing, benefits, and healthcare HR compliance. This role requires a leader who can seamlessly balance hands-on HR operations with high-level strategic planning to support organizational growth and employee engagement.

Requirements

  • Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 7–10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in the healthcare industry required.
  • Extensive knowledge of compensation strategy, including job classification, salary structure development, market analysis, incentive design, and pay equity compliance required.
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience leading HR readiness for accreditation surveys (e.g., Joint Commission)
  • Proven ability to lead complex HR operations and build effective partnerships across all organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • HRIS experience, preferably with Paycom, and the ability to leverage technology for analytics and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare HR compliance, credentialing standards (e.g., Joint Commission), and extensive knowledge of compensation strategy.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Nice To Haves

  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Direct experience managing provider and/or staff credentialing processes strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive HR strategies that align with organizational objectives and drive workforce excellence.
  • Oversee all core HR functions, including employee relations, FMLA, performance management, policy development and implementation, onboarding, and staffing models.
  • Lead the development and management of compensation structures, salary benchmarking, incentive programs, and pay equity analyses for both clinical and non-clinical roles.
  • Direct and supervise the credentialing process for clinical staff, ensuring adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and compliance standards.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, and talent retention strategies.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and healthcare-specific employment laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements. (e.g., HIPAA, FMLA, OSHA, CMS guidelines)
  • Develop and deliver training programs that enhance employee skills, leadership capabilities, and organizational performance.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
