About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY The director of homeownership champions and leads the strategic direction, implementation, and quality of all of South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity’s current and emerging homeownership programs and services for our community. The director, along with 3-4 staff, deliver the following: Homeownership program Home repair programs Community education and outreach offerings Counseling services Neighbor relations in our housing developments Compliance with all lending requirements, jurisdictional regulations, and policies WHO SHOULD APPLY You are a strategic and process-driven professional who is a forward-thinking champion of homeownership access for our neighbors in the South Sound. You are drawn to a role that can influence how more people in our community can achieve homeownership. You thrive in reaching aspirational goals and believe that solid and equitable systems and policies are what truly drive results. You bring with you experience in program and staff management, lending, housing, or adult education. You love juggling many projects and relationships and are willing to continuously improve processes to best serve our community’s growing housing needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; additional education or training in related field(s) preferred
  • Five years of experience in community-facing service/program design and development, or related combination of experience.
  • Three years of experience in at least one of the following areas: mortgage lending, real estate, adult/financial education, or similar (may be a part of above).
  • Two years in a leadership position with people management responsibilities (may be a part of above).
  • A goal and detail-oriented personality who is resilient and creative when faced with shifting challenges and opportunities
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to perform short- and long-range planning and strategy for small to medium-sized organizations
  • Deep understanding of current principles and practices in the sale of homes and mortgage underwriting, preferably in the affordable housing sector and as well as experience with shared equity models
  • Exceptional work ethic and track record of personal initiative and achievement
  • Understanding of and successful history with any or multiples of the following: Habitat for Humanity operations, mortgage underwriting, financial education, community development, residential construction, residential repairs, affordable housing initiatives, or government funding and regulations
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, speak, and write well
  • Solid understanding of and ability to apply principles of effective adult learning
  • Strong leadership qualities; ability to prioritize, delegate, and lead by word and by example
  • Excellent organization skills with a history of planning and delivering complex projects on-time and on-budget
  • Competency with budget development and expense management
  • Tech-savvy generally; high-level competency with Microsoft Office/365, project management tools, and constituent relationship management platforms; ability to develop templated tools and reports
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to pass a background and reference check
  • Commitment to the South Puget Sound Habitat mission and core values
