About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Research Operations (APRO) with a dotted reporting line to the Director of General Accounting, the Director of Grants Accounting and Post-Award (Director 3) oversees the financial administration of grants and contracts from award setup through award closeout and ensures compliance with all Federal, State, University and sponsor policies, procedures and guidelines. This position is directly responsible for managing and coordinating daily financial accounting and reporting and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures and controls. This includes accounting, billing, receipting, reporting, and ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations, sponsor/grantor requirements and Foundation activities. The Director will work as part of a full-service team in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule , including evening and weekend hours. This is not a remote position.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • minimum of three years of grant accounting experience or three years of equivalent experience managing grants, including budget management, ensuring compliance with legal or contractual requirements, recordkeeping and preparation of monthly, quarterly and/ or annual reporting is required, preferably in a college or university environment.
  • proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications
  • knowledge of GAAP, OMB Uniform Guidance, DHHS Regulations and NJHHS guidelines
  • superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • effective oral and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical acumen

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree may be substituted for two years of the required experience
  • experience with Ellucian/Colleague, Cayuse and Workday
  • membership in professional associations such as the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) or the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI)
