About The Position

Responsibilities for the Director of Football Operations/Assistant Coach position include, but are not limited to the following: Organizes and oversees all team travel logistics, including transportation, lodging, itineraries, per diem distribution, and coordination with hotels and vendors; coordinates team meals during fall camp and the offseason in collaboration with the athletic department dietitian; manages football meeting room scheduling and setup, and coordinates shared space usage with other campus programs (e.g., band, MLX, WLX, track), including contingency planning for schedule changes; coordinates housing for all incoming freshmen and upperclassmen student-athletes; receives and directs phone calls, mailings, travel paperwork, and operational documentation; and coordinates plans with facilities management and relevant campus partners. Assists with recruiting operations and player evaluation, including advanced evaluations of transfer portal and junior college prospects; supports the Recruiting Coordinator in all aspects of recruiting operations for Towson Football, including visit coordination, recruiting logistics, documentation, and communication in compliance with NCAA and institutional regulations; organizes and maintains recruiting information and documentation within Teamworks and ARMS as required. Hires, trains, and supervises football program interns who assist with recruiting operations, campus tours, video evaluations, meeting room setup, and supplemental meals; assists with the Total Tiger Program, supporting student-athlete community service initiatives and career development programming; assists with academic support initiatives as directed; provides limited on-field assistance as needed by the coaching staff; plans and organizes the annual end-of-year football awards banquet; serves as a liaison for program-related initiatives involving alumni engagement, community outreach, and internal department collaboration. Maintains knowledge of and adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations; completes recruiting logs, operational documentation, and required end-of-year summaries within ARMS and other designated systems in coordination with the compliance office; maintains accurate recruiting, video, academic, travel, and operational records. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach in support of the football program and athletics department. The work hours for this position include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to accommodate the football program schedule. Travel is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of experience in football operations or coaching experience at the college, high school, professional, club/clinic level or graduate assistant level
  • Ability to accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other coaches, students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community
  • Ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
  • A demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically
  • A demonstrated commitment to building a positive team culture, and commitment to personal and professional development of student-athletes
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an Athletics Department and the university
