About The Position

The Director of Finance is a strategic finance leader responsible for driving revenue growth, contribution margin optimization, and commercial performance within a healthcare staffing organization. This role serves as a key business partner to Sales and Operations, providing financial insight into pricing, bill/pay spread, clinician mix, contract structures, and customer profitability. The ideal candidate brings experience from public accounting and/or private equity–backed companies and thrives in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments where financial discipline and commercial execution are critical to value creation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 8–12+ years of progressive finance experience including FP&A, commercial finance, or revenue analytics
  • Experience in public accounting and/or private equity–backed companies
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with Sales and Operations teams
  • Understanding of healthcare staffing economics including bill rates, pay rates, spreads, and contribution margin
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Own and enhance contribution margin analysis across locums and permanent staffing segments
  • Analyze and optimize bill/pay spreads, overtime, stipends, and premium pay impacts
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to evaluate contract terms, rate cards, extensions, and renewals
  • Drive profitability insights by customer, facility, specialty, geography, and clinician type
  • Develop margin improvement strategies aligned with market dynamics and clinician supply constraints
  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to Sales leadership, supporting pipeline reviews, deal structuring, and pricing decisions
  • Provide financial support for RFPs, MSP/VMS programs, and large enterprise contracts
  • Collaborate with Operations to balance fill rates, speed-to-fill, clinician utilization, and margin outcomes
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into actionable insights for non-financial leaders
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning with a focus on revenue growth, gross margin, and contribution margin
  • Build and maintain financial models for pricing scenarios, volume shifts, market expansion, and new service lines
  • Monitor KPIs including revenue per FTE, gross margin by specialty, clinician productivity, and customer profitability
  • Support sales incentive and commission modeling aligned with profitable growth
  • Prepare financial analyses and presentations for executive leadership, board meetings, and private equity sponsors
  • Support value creation initiatives including margin expansion, scalability, cost discipline, and data transparency
  • Provide insights to support M&A activity, integration, and synergy tracking as applicable
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of revenue, margin, and operational reporting
  • Lead month-end close for revenue through contribution margin (with lean opex), including booking select journal entries and overseeing work completed by an offshore accounting team
  • Partner closely with HQ accounting to align financial reporting with staffing-specific commercial analytics
  • Improve financial processes, tools, and systems to support scale and decision-making in a high-growth environment
  • Drive the eventual integration of CO finance back-end processes and systems into HQ platforms, controls, and close/reporting cadence
