About The Position

The Director of Faculty Development will design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive faculty development programs that enhance teaching effectiveness, scholarly productivity, and professional growth for faculty within the College of Osteopathic Medicine. This role supports DYU-COM’s mission to foster excellence in osteopathic medical education and ensure faculty are equipped to meet evolving accreditation standards and best practices in medical education.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Medical Education, Health Professions Education, or related field required. Doctorate (EdD, PhD) preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years in faculty development, instructional design, or medical education. Experience in a medical school or health professions setting strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards (COCA, LCME, ACGME).
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with osteopathic principles and practice integration.
  • Background in educational research and scholarly publication.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems and educational technology.

Responsibilities

  • Program Development & Delivery: Create and lead faculty development workshops, seminars, and online modules focused on evidence-based teaching strategies, curriculum design and assessment, clinical teaching and preceptorship skills, diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education, and research and scholarly activity. Develop onboarding programs for new faculty and adjuncts.
  • Accreditation & Compliance: Ensure faculty development initiatives align with COCA and LCME standards. Maintain documentation and reporting for accreditation purposes.
  • Consultation & Coaching: Provide individualized coaching and mentoring for faculty on teaching, assessment, and career development. Support faculty in integrating technology and innovative pedagogies.
  • Evaluation & Continuous Improvement: Assess the effectiveness of faculty development programs using data-driven metrics. Recommend improvements based on feedback and emerging trends in medical education.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Academic Affairs, Clinical Education, CME and Research offices. Serve as a resource for interprofessional education initiatives.
  • Reports to the DYU-COM Associate Dean of Professional Affairs.
  • Special Duties & Projects: The DYU-COM Associate Dean of Professional Affairs and the DYU-COM Dean may assign special duties and projects as deemed appropriate.
