Make an Impact We are seeking a talented Director of eCommerce Merchandising to lead the online merchandising and organic growth strategy for Fossil and our portfolio of brands. This role owns the end-to-end digital assortment, site merchandising, organic discoverability, and P&L performance for the North America eCommerce business, driving revenue growth, conversion, traffic quality, and customer engagement through data-driven decision making and best-in-class merchandising and SEO practices. In addition to North America P&L ownership, this role serves as a global center of excellence for eCommerce merchandising and SEO, partnering with regional teams to ensure Fossil Group’s digital experiences represent the strongest expression of our brands worldwide. This leader will oversee both eCommerce Merchandising and SEO teams, ensuring tight alignment between on-site experience, organic acquisition, and commercial outcomes. The role partners closely with eCommerce, Marketing, Planning, Analytics, Creative, and Technology teams to ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time—optimized across all digital touchpoints and discovery surfaces.

Requirements

  • Minimum eight years of experience in eCommerce merchandising, site merchandising, digital retail, or related disciplines
  • Proven success owning and driving eCommerce KPIs in a complex, multi-brand environment
  • Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals and how they apply to eCommerce merchandising, category strategy, and PDP optimization
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and partnering cross-functionally with Planning, Marketing, Technology, and Analytics
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable strategies
  • Deep understanding of digital merchandising tools, CMS platforms, and eCommerce analytics

  • Experience in fashion, accessories, footwear, or lifestyle brands
  • Experience operating in a global or omnichannel retail environment
  • Familiarity with enterprise SEO and analytics tools (e.g., Google Search Console, Conductor, SEMrush)
  • Curiosity and working knowledge of emerging AI-driven search and discovery trends and their impact on eCommerce growth

Responsibilities

  • eCommerce Merchandising Strategy & Execution
  • Own the eCommerce merchandising vision and roadmap for Fossil and Portfolio brand websites
  • Own full North America eCommerce P&L, including revenue growth, gross margin, promotional effectiveness, and traffic productivity
  • Partner with Finance, Planning, and Marketing to set forecasts, budgets, and performance targets aligned to business objectives
  • Drive commercial decision-making across assortment, pricing inputs, promotions, and site experience to deliver profitable growth
  • Monitor performance against plan and take decisive action to course-correct as needed
  • Lead digital assortment strategy, product launches, and storytelling aligned to brand, commercial, and organic growth priorities
  • Drive the site experience across homepage, category pages, PDPs, on-site search, navigation, and cross-sell/upsell strategies
  • Own category taxonomy, site hierarchy, and product classification to deliver intuitive customer journeys and strong organic performance
  • Ensure seasonal, promotional, and lifecycle merchandising strategies are executed flawlessly across all digital entry points
  • SEO & Organic Growth Leadership
  • Oversee the SEO team and set the direction for organic search as a core eCommerce growth channel
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Content, UX, and Technology teams to embed SEO best practices into site development, merchandising, and campaign planning
  • Own merchandising-led inputs into SEO strategy, including category architecture, keyword-aligned assortment strategy, PDP optimization, internal linking, and on-site search behavior
  • Develop strategies that support emerging AI-driven and conversational search experiences, including optimization for generative answers, product-level attribution, and structured content surfaced by AI-powered search platforms
  • Ensure category pages, PDPs, and evergreen content are optimized for both traditional search engines and evolving AI-powered discovery behaviors
  • Performance & Analytics
  • Own core eCommerce KPIs including revenue, conversion rate, AOV, organic traffic productivity, and gross margin
  • Monitor and interpret merchandising and SEO performance, translating insights into clear actions that drive growth
  • Partner with Analytics and Planning to connect customer behavior, search demand, and site performance to commercial strategy
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate closely with Demand Planning, Inventory Planning, Marketing, and Site Operations to align forecasts, inventory flow, and promotional strategy
  • Partner with Creative and Brand teams to deliver compelling, on-brand digital storytelling
  • Work with Technology and UX teams to enhance site functionality, personalization, merchandising tools, and SEO foundations
  • Serve as a global center of excellence for the Ecommerce team, collaborating with global partners to definite best practices, share insights and to ensure all sites represent the strongest expression of Fossil Group brands while allowing for market-specific needs and priorities
  • People Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing eCommerce Merchandising and SEO teams
  • Foster a culture of accountability, experimentation, and continuous improvement grounded in data and customer insight
  • Omnichannel & Growth Initiatives
  • Support omnichannel initiatives including buy-online-pick-up-in-store, ship-from-store, and marketplace integrations where applicable
  • Identify opportunities to expand digital capabilities through personalization, AI-driven merchandising, and emerging best practices
