The Director/Certified Head of School serves as a pivotal leader within NY Preschool & Kids Club, responsible for driving excellence across sales, operations, team development, educational oversight, community engagement, and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the District Manager, this role blends strategic vision with hands-on leadership to ensure operational success and sustained growth. With a focus on achieving key performance metrics, the Certified Head of School develops and implements strategic operational and sales initiatives that drive enrollment, elevate program quality, and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. This leader cultivates high-performing teams through mentorship, coaching, and professional development, while also ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies. In partnership with families and local communities, the Certified Head of School fosters strong, mission-aligned relationships to position the school as a trusted hub for early childhood education and enrichment. Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in early childhood education (birth-2) or elementary education (1-6), plus a NY state teaching certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership position. Required.
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Preschool Lead Teacher
  • Experience in a similar sales or enrollment-focused role.
  • Experience with NY DOH licensing compliance, Article 47 preferred.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic early childhood environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Strategy: Lead your location in achieving key metrics: enrollment, retention, customer service, program quality, compliance, and productivity.
  • Performance & Profitability: Oversee day-to-day operations, analyze district trends, and boost engagement and growth. Plan class offerings, schedule flow, and transition times. Support the creation of semester scheduling and program development.
  • Team Development & Management: Manage staff schedules and ensure proper staffing for all programming. Coach and mentor your team through 1:1 check-ins, performance reviews, and observations. Build and retain a strong team by conducting interviews and hiring events. Foster trust, growth, and positive internal referrals.
  • Educational Oversight: Partner with the Education Team to ensure quality curriculum delivery. Support classroom setup and confirm necessary materials are on-site each semester. Review Welcome Packets to inform staff of student-specific needs.
  • Family Communication: Support teaching staff with family engagement, including assessments and school reports. Oversee the use of Bloomz for semester updates and parent communication.
  • Community Engagement: Generate leads and build relationships with current and prospective families. Conduct tours, answer enrollment questions, and present program benefits with clarity and enthusiasm. Possess in-depth product knowledge and offer tailored solutions.
  • Program Quality: Ensure programs meet brand standards and provide a safe, engaging environment. Maintain strong relationships with current families and ensure exceptional service.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to DOHMH/DOE regulations and Article 47 standards. Conduct monthly drills and safety checks, maintain student and staff compliance files, and prepare for inspections. Distribute monthly calendars and lead team meetings.
  • Child-Centered Support: Address children’s behavior, separation, and developmental needs across all programming.
  • Leadership & Culture: Lead education meetings, team meetings, and new hire training. Foster a culture of accountability, support, and collaboration.
