Summary: The Director of Distribution serves as a key member of the Suncast Leadership Team, overseeing all distribution operations and internal supply chain functions. This role is accountable for driving departmental performance, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, maintaining exceptional housekeeping, and meeting productivity expectations. During peak season, the Director will lead multiple departments operating on a 24/7 schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain, engineering, or a related field required.
10+ years of distribution experience.
7+ years of distribution leadership experience.
Relevant experience with shipping to Big Box Retailers, Clubs, and Home Centers such as Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, and Walmart.
Ability to build, develop and coach the Distribution team as well as communicate performance expectations, engage, and develop employees through succession planning.
Ability to collaborate closely with other divisional leaders to develop, execute, and recommend short- and long-term distribution objectives to sustain and drive company growth.

Responsibilities

Oversee operations for all Suncast distribution warehouses.
The Director of Distribution ensures product is stored efficiently, safely, and securely.
Minimize warehouse damage and damage through handling of product.
Continuously review procedures and layout for each warehouse to ensure storage utilization and safe work methods.
Responsible for Warehouse Inventory Management including inventory control, stock levels and cycle counting procedures, results, and action plans.
Ensure effective and timely order fulfillment for all customer orders while identifying innovative technology and automation solutions.
The Director of Distribution develops distribution and fulfillment strategies based on customer demand forecasts in collaboration with sales, account management, manufacturing, and finance teams.
Oversee and support global customs compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to CBP regulations, tariff classification, country of origin, and import/export requirements, working with international partners and agencies.
Provide oversight for all third-party logistics warehouses outside the U.S. (currently includes Canada, U.K., and Germany). Includes negotiations of pricing insuring adequate services, fulfillment to customer expectations, and inventory control.
The Director of Distribution establishes performance measurement metrics and set performance targets for all distribution facilities and related functions.
Through continuous improvement, identify opportunities for reduced labor and increased output.
Ensure distribution and Suncast corporate goals are achieved.
Prevent and mitigate customer fines and penalties associated with distribution activities including, but not limited to: ship dates, short shipments, labeling, non-compliance, etc.
Contract with freight carriers to deliver finished products to the end customer.
Customer demands should be met in a cost-effective manner.
Ensure each Distribution department complies with all Suncast and OSHA safety policies and housekeeping standards.
Required Suncast trainings need to be completed in a timely manner and prior to deadlines.
Prepare annual budget for Distribution and ensure costs are managed at or below budget.
Continuously seek methods to reduce costs.
Understand the employee collective bargaining agreement (union contract) and ensure that work methods and discipline are in accordance.
Learn and adapt to new software and technologies used at Suncast.
Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping practices.
Perform additional duties as required.
