About The Position

The Director of Digital Media serves as a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, leading the strategic direction, management, and execution of Texas Wesleyan University's digital and multimedia presence. This position will be responsible for the university's website, and will lead the social media, photography, and videography team to advance institutional priorities, elevate the TXWES brand, and attract and engage prospective students. The Director serves as a key collaborator across departments, guiding content strategy, optimizing user experience, and leveraging emerging technologies to position Texas Wesleyan as a forward-thinking, student-centered institution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field; master's preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in digital media, marketing, or communications within higher education or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CMS platforms and experience managing web content across multiple departments.
  • Experienced proficiency with Finalsite CMS, Hootsuite, and photo/video editing software(s).
  • Proven ability to monitor, analyze, and grow social media engagement through data-driven strategies.
  • Strong experience in video scripting, production, and editing that elevates brand identity and storytelling.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic digital thinker with a creative approach to storytelling.

  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, or similar design and prototyping tools.
  • Ability to balance design creativity with technical feasibility.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Website Strategy and Management
  • Serve as the primary lead for the Texas Wesleyan University website, ensuring all content is accurate, current, and reflective of the university's brand voice and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with departmental website managers to maintain consistent quality, tone, and accessibility standards.
  • Utilize data analytics, SEO, and UX best practices to improve site performance, navigation, and engagement with prospective students and families.
  • Partner with the university's CMS provider to implement enhancements and maintain technical functionality.
  • Work with IT team and their partners to implement technical needs for the website.
  • Digital Media and Social Strategy
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive digital media strategy in collaboration with the Digital Media team to align with institutional goals and audience engagement metrics.
  • Oversee social media performance, guide content planning, and support growth in engagement across university platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-platform integration and audience expansion, ensuring brand consistency and proactive engagement.
  • Video and Multimedia Production
  • Lead concept development, scripting, and production of high-quality video content that amplifies the Texas Wesleyan brand and highlights campus life, academics, and student success stories.
  • Oversee video distribution strategy to maximize reach and engagement, particularly through YouTube as a primary search and storytelling platform.
  • Manage vendors, freelance producers, and internal creative resources to deliver professional, mission-aligned visual storytelling.
  • Collaboration and Leadership
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications and the broader MarComm team to ensure digital strategies reinforce university messaging and campaign initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to multimedia staff and student interns, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed on higher education trends, digital best practices, and emerging technologies to keep Texas Wesleyan on the leading edge of digital communication.
