About The Position

The Director of Development is a key leader of the development team to create and implement strategies to secure financial support for the organization. This position involves building and maintaining relationships with foundation and governments funders, overseeing the grants program, and carrying a portfolio of individual and/or corporate prospects and donors. The Director of Development plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and growth of the organization, enabling it to continue providing essential services that support the youth who need us most.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in English, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of grant writing experience, preferred experience with various levels of government grants
  • Proficient in tactical and strategic project management.
  • Demonstrates creative and innovative approaches to fundraising.
  • Possesses mature management experience and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, internet research, spreadsheets, donor databases, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and prioritize work for internal staff and external collaborators.
  • Experience in making independent decisions under pressure and in group settings.
  • Ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and communities, including children/youth, parents, network provider’s staff, supervisors, administrators, and legal and judicial professionals.
  • Adept at preparing clear and concise reports.
  • Proficient in gathering, correlating, and analyzing data.
  • Maintains a current driver’s license and access to reliable and safe transportation for personal use.

Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy:
  • Support the CDO and partner with the Director of Development – Corporate Relations to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve the organization's financial goals.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with foundation and government funders, individual donors, and other potential funding sources.
  • Stay updated with philanthropic trends and implement innovative approaches to maximize fundraising efforts.
  • Grant Management and Writing:
  • Manage grant application process, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Research, write, and submit grant proposals.
  • Oversee the timely stewardship reports to foundations and corporations as defined by the grant agreement.
  • Lead continuous process improvement with systems and teams for the whole grant life cycle.
  • Proof all grants to ensure agency integrity and proper fit with fundraising goals.
  • Conduct monthly grant meetings with organizational and programmatic leaders.
  • Donor Relations:
  • Help develop and maintain an ongoing strategy for individual donor giving.
  • Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and community outreach to enhance its visibility and reputation.
  • Assist the CDO in cultivating and stewarding all relationships with private and public funders to create meaningful connections to the mission, vision, and programs of BGCSA.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Collaborate with the executive team and program leaders to align fundraising efforts with the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Ensure clear and timely communication among Executive Leadership, Senior Leadership, and Program Directors to cohesively grasp program needs, fund development, project timelines, internal deadlines, and sustainability.
