About The Position

We are seeking a Director of Development to join our team. Salary Range: $76,880 - $115,320 The Director of Development serves as a senior fundraising leader responsible for driving philanthropic revenue through a disciplined, relationship-centered approach to major giving. This role is designed for a fundraising leader who knows how to build trust and translate Cornerstones of Care’s mission into meaningful philanthropic opportunities. This includes managing a portfolio of major and leadership gift prospects, strengthening the donor pipeline, and creating intentional donor journeys from the stages of identification through stewardship. The Director will partner closely with executive leadership, board members, and key volunteers to advance a culture of philanthropy and secure significant philanthropic investment in Cornerstones of Care’s work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, required.
  • Demonstrated and significant success in major gift fundraising ($10k+).
  • Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and close leadership gifts of $100,000+.
  • Demonstrated experience using donor CRM systems such as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT (or similar platforms) to manage donor relationships and fundraising activity.
  • Strong working knowledge of donor records, gift entry, moves management tracking, and portfolio management within a CRM environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and detailed documentation of donor interactions.
  • Experience leading comprehensive development strategies across individual, corporate, and volunteer engagement.
  • Strong strategic planning, relationship management, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with senior leadership and volunteer leaders.
  • At least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical, and drug screening.
  • A valid driver's license in the state you reside in, proof of current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Major & Principal Gift Fundraising Develop and execute comprehensive major gift strategies, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Personally manage and solicit a portfolio of high‑net‑worth donors and prospects.
  • Create and implement individualized donor ask plans and donor engagement plans aligned with organizational priorities and donor interests.
  • Partner with executive leadership, board members, and volunteers on complex, multi‑stage major and leadership gift strategies.
  • Ensure consistent stewardship that strengthens donor trust, satisfaction, and long‑term commitment.
  • Development Strategy & Revenue Leadership Lead the planning and execution of annual, major, and campaign fundraising efforts in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Establish fundraising benchmarks, revenue targets, and donor engagement metrics.
  • Oversee donor pipelines, moves management systems, and prospect strategies to ensure donor progression.
  • Contribute to organizational planning by aligning fundraising priorities with programmatic and strategic initiatives.
  • Donor Engagement & Stewardship Design high‑impact donor engagement experiences that move constituents toward deeper philanthropic investment.
  • Ensure donors receive timely, meaningful stewardship, recognition, and impact reporting.
  • Collaborate with communications and program staff to tell compelling stories that reinforce donor alignment with mission outcomes.
  • Advance a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
  • Corporate & Strategic Partnerships Support corporate giving and sponsorship strategies, with an emphasis on relationship‑driven, values‑aligned partnerships.
  • Cultivate corporate leaders as philanthropic partners and individual major gift prospects.
  • Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration Supervise, mentor, and support development and engagement staff (as applicable).
  • Foster collaboration across development, communications, programs, and finance.
  • Establish clear roles, accountability, and performance expectations aligned with fundraising goals.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of donor engagement activity and fundraising outcomes in the CRM.
