About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Mobile Crisis Response, providing care to consumers involved in Mobile Crisis Response, and on the Crisis Receiving Stabilization Services (CRSS) unit. This includes development, implementation and oversight of program and service expansion. Additionally, this position will deliver appropriate mental health assessment, treatment planning and intervention for clients who are impacted by emotional/behavioral impairment which has resulted in a DSM-V-TR diagnosis and are targeted for mental health services by the Division of Mental Health. This position operates under minimal supervision but must be willing to solicit professional assistance in areas of responsibility from outside sources, as necessary. A person in this position must exercise tact, judgment, and confidentiality in contact with the public, clients, and families, as well as fellow associates of the Center. Work is very broad in scope, requiring the application of complex and technical practices and procedures and a high level of professionalism.

Requirements

  • At least six (6) college credit hours in abnormal psychology or other related psychology classes preferred
  • (2) years of management experience in mental health, social services, or crisis services.
  • Works well under supervision as well as independently. Organizes/manages time and daily activities with little direct supervision.
  • Ability to think critically and analyze information/situations for the most appropriate response.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Manages complex tasks and requests supervision when necessary.
  • Able to utilize databases and/or other electronic means to perform duties.
  • Models professionalism and teamwork internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication skills; internally and externally. Must be able to communicate in a simplistic manner to meet the needs of clients from all walks of life.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintains positive working relations and rapport with the community.
  • Must be able and willing to become credentialed as an Other Behavioral Health Professional (OBHP), in accordance with Center policy.
  • Must have a valid Indiana Driver's License and maintain vehicle insurance requirements per Center policy and be willing to drive to each county as required.
  • Must have current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Must have current CPI certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Maintain mandatory agency in-service training requirements.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to work with external regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to coordinate treatment among all internal and external treatment providers.
  • Willing and able to promote a positive public image of the Center while interacting with the public and to incorporate the Mission Statement and Core Values of the Center in day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, hospitals, recovery centers, and all other referral sources to respond to crisis situations in the community.
  • Actively attend and remain involved with suicide tasks forces and relevant community committees relevant to crisis, recovery, and criminal justice services.
  • Performing crisis risk assessments
  • Integrating treatment plans into aftercare plans to reduce future crisis.
  • Completing thorough and professionally written Mobile Crisis Team Evaluation documents
  • Coordinate scheduling of on-call MCT shifts to ensure equitable opportunity across all qualified departments.
  • Complete weekly and monthly operations and reporting for MCT, identify areas of improvement and make data informed recommendations.
  • Improve engagement in the transition from the CRSS to outpatient treatment.
  • Increase access for non-clients involved with MCT into outpatient care.
  • Work directly with CRSS staff to ensure timely drop-offs and client coordination.
  • Ensure initial and ongoing training for the MCT staff.
  • Ensure MCT ES's are accurate and sent to LP within required time frames.
  • Provide on-call coverage on a rotating, weekly schedule and manage the on-call calendar to ensure coverage in all counties according to 4C Policy.
  • Monitor write-offs.
  • Responsible for reviewing staff service documentation for clinical appropriateness and accuracy according to Center policy.
  • Responsible to maintain MCT designation per requirements of DMHA.
  • Increase MCT volunteers to include eligible Recovery Facilitators, CST's, and CCS's.
  • Coordinate debriefs for MCT crisis calls as applicable.
  • Work collaboratively with the CRSS to provide appropriate level of care for clients who present in crisis.
  • Implement training as required by the agency and ensure implementation of Evidenced Based Practices.
  • Serve as the primary team leader supporting mobile crisis team services in community settings.
  • Coordinates and monitors the array of services and supports necessary for effective crisis care.
  • Maintain monthly/quarterly contact with the referring agencies and provide required progress reports, if applicable.
  • Document accurate information, which reflects client progress based on the appropriate therapeutic modality. Therapeutic services will be time limited and specific to the presenting problem(s) of each assigned client.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of client/agency needs according to programs available under the continuum of care.
  • Facilitate the development of additional clinical programs according to community need and cost effectiveness of these programs. Department growth includes but is not limited to, expansion and sustainability of Mobile Crisis Response
  • Maintain contact with primary clinical referral sources to determine needs and use of clinical programs. This information will be disseminated to the appropriate Managers/Directors to facilitate improved clinical care and community involvement.
  • Review timecards, and mileage, as relevant to MCT, for accuracy and efficient practice management.
  • Maintain and update assigned departmental policies and procedures, following protocol as outlined in Center policies.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the basic concepts of mental illness and the basic techniques of clinical work including functional skills, socialization skills training, communication skills training, treatment coordination, and crisis intervention/behavior management techniques for adult and adolescent service lines.
  • Attend continuing education seminars pertaining to mental health care, substance abuse, evidenced based practices, or other continuing education seminars pertinent to the needs of clients, as deemed necessary by senior management.
  • Stay informed on crisis care best practices for adults, adolescents and children and ensure fidelity in all crisis departments.
  • Provide training in de-escalation and crisis intervention and stay abreast of best practices.
  • Keeps all associates informed of relevant changes and fosters an atmosphere of open communication.
