About The Position

Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Kean Wellness Center, the Director of Counseling and Alcohol and Other Drug Services (Director 2) is a full-time, twelve-month managerial position responsible for the management, development and implementation of a comprehensive counseling program for the educational, personal and psychological support of students at Kean’s multiple campus locations. The Director assists in the development of policy affecting the mental health environment of the University; oversees the delivery of clinical services and also supervises the Alcohol and Other Drug Services program; collaborates with other offices in the Wellness Center and other University departments to provide an integrated educational support and outreach service to students across all campuses; and does related work as required. This position requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. Travel is also required, including travel to Kean’s New Jersey campus locations. This position assists the Executive Director with response to emergency situations and s erves in a lead role on the university-wide trauma response team .

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in a related discipline
  • Current New Jersey State licensure as a licensed psychologist, licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker
  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a college or university counseling center or related field is required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to use and integrate technology into the counseling experience
