About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Catering and Conference Services. This pivotal role will oversee the catering, banquet and conference services efforts for the resort. This leadership role is responsible for strategic sales direction, event planning excellence, revenue optimization, and seamless event execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in conference services, catering sales, or related roles, in the hospitality industry.
  • Proven track record of success in conference services leadership, with demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and upsell banquet events.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a sales and service team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of the luxury hospitality market and industry trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Delphi, Opera and CRM software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, detailing, and execution of all banquet & catered events, including indoor and outdoor venues, including The Estate, a luxury home overlooking the James River.
  • Lead, hire, coach, and mentor catering and event planning teams
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal operations departments to ensure consistent delivery of resort service standards throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Lead and mentor the catering and conference services team, providing guidance, training, and support to deliver exceptional service.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow catering, banquet, and conference revenue, including weddings and destination events.
  • Collaborate with Sales on group contracting, space allocation, revenue maximization, and upsell opportunities.
  • Review proposals, contracts, menus, pricing, and billing to ensure profitability.
  • Act as executive point of contact for VIP clients, wedding planners, corporate groups, and catering clients.
  • Work closely with the operations team to coordinate event logistics, menu planning, billing, and execution, ensuring flawless delivery of services.
  • Establish long-term relationships and drive repeat and referral business
