About The Position

As part of Rhythm Energy's expansion into new customer segments, we are seeking a commercially driven, results-oriented, and strategic Director of C&I Sales to lead our commercial and industrial (C&I) customer acquisition efforts in the deregulated Texas electricity market. This newly created leadership role is critical to Rhythm's next phase of growth and will focus on acquiring small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) through both direct and indirect sales channels. You will be responsible for building and leading an inside sales team, developing a comprehensive go-to-market strategy, and collaborating cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Engineering, Regulatory, Customer Experience, Pricing and Operations to ensure we have the right tools, processes, and people in place to acquire, serve, and retain commercial customers effectively. The ideal candidate has a strong background in C&I electricity sales, experience standing up and managing their own sales team, and a pre-established network in the Texas broker and energy ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in C&I electricity sales, preferably within the Texas retail electricity market (ERCOT).
  • Demonstrated success in acquiring SMB or mid-market customers through both direct and broker channels.
  • Experience building and managing sales teams, ideally in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong understanding of retail electricity pricing, contracting, margin and broker sales models.
  • Deep knowledge of the Texas deregulated market and its competitive dynamics, regulations, and broker ecosystem.
  • Ability to translate data into strategy and optimize acquisition efforts based on customer behavior and market conditions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver commercial customer acquisition goals in the deregulated Texas electricity market, with a focus on SMB customer segment.
  • Build and lead an inside sales team from the ground up, establishing processes, tools, training, commissions and team structure.
  • Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy for acquiring C&I customers via direct and indirect channels, including digital, inside sales, and third-party brokers.
  • Manage and optimize cost per acquisition (CPA), lead conversion metrics, and margin performance in line with company targets.
  • Work with Marketing to generate and qualify leads, and reach the right audience through targeted campaigns and digital acquisition strategies.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to develop and implement sales tools and platforms, for both digital and broker channels, that support scalable acquisition.
  • Partner with Regulatory to ensure all required documentation and compliance elements are in place for serving C&I customers in Texas.
  • Work with Operations and Customer Experience teams to ensure customer support and operational readiness for commercial accounts, including contract documentation, onboarding communications, and renewals.
  • Maintain and expand strategic relationships with energy brokers and channel partners, leveraging your network to drive immediate sales traction.
  • Monitor and report on key acquisition KPIs, market dynamics, competitive intelligence, and pricing trends.
  • Continuously improve the sales strategy through experimentation, data analysis, and feedback from customers and partners.
