As the Director of Business Development within our Growth Team, you will be responsible for expanding Stambaugh Ness’ relationships within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry to drive revenue growth. You will focus on cross-selling our integrated suite of CPA, consulting, and technology services to existing clients while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with strategic buyers and private equity-backed firms within the AEC sector. This is a remote position that can work from anywhere within the United States. We are committed to finding the right person for this role. Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive sales or business development experience within professional services (CPA firms, AEC consulting, or technology providers preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, engineering, or related field
  • Proven success selling cross-functional solutions with a multimillion-dollar annual revenue generation track record
  • Understanding of AEC industry trends, challenges, and regulatory environment
  • Consultative selling mindset with strong strategic thinking capabilities
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with executive presence
  • Strong business acumen and financial literacy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Collaborative team player able to work effectively across organizational boundaries
  • Proficiency with CRM systems
  • Ability to travel approximately 20 -30% as business needs require

Nice To Haves

  • Led strategic growth or business development initiatives within professional services, consulting, or AEC-focused organizations including AEC technology companies
  • Successfully sold multi-service or cross-functional consultative solutions
  • Understanding of strategic M&A activity within the AEC sector and experience working with private equity-backed firms is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Strategic Buyer Initiative and other strategic business development initiatives focused on expanding SN’s presence within the AEC market
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing client accounts with emphasis on expanding wallet share
  • Lead complex, multi-service sales cycles from initial contact through contract negotiation and close
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities targeting AEC clients
  • Partner closely with the Chief Growth Officer to establish and achieve annual sales targets
  • Mentor business development staff, regardless of reporting structure, and contribute positively to team culture and development
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to AEC firm leaders and executive-level decision-makers
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive, client-centered solutions
  • Facilitate introductions between clients and SN technical experts across service lines
  • Monitor client engagement and identify opportunities to deepen and expand relationships
  • Represent SN at national and state conferences, roundtables, ACEC events, and legislative forums to strengthen brand presence and generate qualified prospects
  • Support industry alliances and strategic partnerships that enhance SN’s market position

  • The salary range for this position is an estimate of $140,000 - $170,000 base with additional commission and incentives. A final compensation offer within this range will be based on factors including an individual’s skill sets, experience, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and geography.
