We are looking to add a Director of Accounting to our team! LOCATION: Remote REPORTS TO: This role reports directly to the Controller in a high-growth pet care innovator, poised to transform how families access trusted pet services nationwide. PAY: $135,000 - $160,000 salary + 20% Bonus Opportunity Destination Pet, headquartered in Irving, Texas, is a national network of pet-obsessed professionals dedicated to elevating the love and lives of our pet families through total pet care. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• CPA and/or Big 4 background strongly preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership
• Deep technical accounting experience
• Experience accounting for retail/hospitality operations or multi-channel ecommerce platforms
• Experience leading and developing teams
• Possesses a disposition toward action – previous private-equity/start-up experience preferred
• Microsoft Office apps expertise, especially Excel
• Excellent financial analysis capabilities to formulate data-driven recommendations for profitability and growth.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop the accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures
• Support all accounting functions for our 4-Wall Business, encompassing owned-and-operated pet care facilities with responsibilities including revenue recognition, cost of services, inventory management, lease accounting under ASC 842, and multi-location consolidation.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Support the Controller in managing audit relationships
• Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements
• Support the finance team in the development of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership for strategic planning and decision-making
• Support the implementation of best-in-class accounting software solutions.
• Support the Controller with the implementation and monitoring of a robust control environment
• Support the Controller in the management and completion of the annual audit of the financial statements and the 401k plan
• Support the development of the architecture for our emerging two-sided platform that connects pet parents with service providers, requiring expertise in marketplace accounting such as gross vs. net revenue presentation under ASC 606, payment processor reconciliations, escrow liability management, and multi-sided transaction flows.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, product, and engineering teams to design accounting policies for new features, implement ERP enhancements, and manage audit relationships.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, system enhancements, and cost efficiencies
