The LSU Agricultural Center is a statewide organization with offices in every parish of Louisiana. We are currently seeking extraordinary candidates for the position outlined below. This position will be domiciled in Efferson Hall – East Baton Rouge Parish. About the Agricultural Center: The LSU AgCenter is one of 8 campuses within the LSU enterprise. The LSU AgCenter includes the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, which conducts agricultural-based research, and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, which extends the knowledge derived from research to the people of the state. The AgCenter is headquartered in Baton Rouge and has 12 academic departments and five regions which are made up of 15 branch research stations and an extension office in each parish. Position Description: The Director position’s primary purpose is to provide leadership and supervision for general operations of the LSU Agricultural Center Accounting Services Office. The Accounting Services unit is responsible for the functions, of accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel reimbursement, internal transactions, accounting records, financial accounting and reporting, and other related areas. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Finance. Specific duties are as follows: Supervises accounting staff and associated daily office operations; ensures timely processing of transactions; ensures compliance with applicable internal and external regulations; trains staff members; recommends and implements operational changes. Provides technical assistance and support to AgCenter administrators, managers, faculty and staff. Serves as a liaison with and maintains good working relationships with other LSU System accounting offices. Provides oral and written interpretation of policies and procedures, rules and regulations, revised statues and internal guidelines to AgCenter units. Conducts statewide training at various meetings and workshops for AgCenter employees. Trains new unit personnel. Ensures timely and accurate reporting of required reports to LSU, LSU System, Board of Regents, Division of Administration and federal partners; serves as a point of contact for LSU financial reporting team; serves as a point of contact for auditors, including the Legislative Auditors and LSU internal auditors. Reviews and approves contracts and various finance-related requests and transactions for the AgCenter. Assists Associate VP for Finance with development and implementation of new policies and related initiatives and performs other related duties as assigned.
