About The Position

We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking leader to join our team in a newly created role that is accountable for conducting assessment of both internal and external asset opportunities. This individual will be accountable to integrate deep market insight, competitive intelligence, clinical understanding, and patient-centric thinking to inform development strategies and maximize global impact. This individual will also support our BD team in evaluating external opportunities as Alnylam looks to supplement internal innovation with external opportunities. This role will report to the VP of Early Commercial Strategy. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of science and strategy, brings a strong track record of cross-functional engagement, and is energized by the opportunity to help build innovative medicines from early development through launch readiness. The candidate is required to have strong interpersonal skills as this role will work with a variety of stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or equivalent required, MBA preferred
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience inclusive of market analytics, new product planning and global brand marketing
  • Ability to navigate across multiple disease areas. Experience in CNS, Cardiovascular, Hematology, or Metabolic therapeutic areas preferred
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally and influencing program development teams.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical development path and ability to identify operational choices that could impact commercialization.
  • Ability to synthesize insights multiple data sources (e.g. primary and secondary market research and data) and translate into strong, well-supported recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and forecasting capabilities.
  • Aptitude for understanding scientific concepts related to research and development.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Market Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on market trends, competitor activity, and potential new business segments to identify growth opportunities. Inform the development of forecast assumptions for financial models.
  • Formulate early commercial strategy and approach for select pipeline programs; Develop target product profiles, serve as commercial voice for the asset in key governance forums.
  • Provide commercial input and strategic guidance to program teams to inform key business decisions on early-stage clinical programs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to conduct rigorous market assessments on key disease areas to inform preclinical strategic planning.
  • Understand and communicate requirements for reimbursement and differentiation to ensure successful global commercialization of pipeline assets.
  • Identify gaps in internal understanding of target diseases and create detailed plans to address gaps through KOL engagement and primary market research.
