Purpose: The Director of Learning & Development for the Patient Service Center (PSC) will lead the strategy, design, and execution of a learning organization that supports Johnson & Johnson’s immunology and oncology product service hub. This role is responsible for setting the PSC’s training vision and roadmap, ensuring learning programs align with business priorities, elevate workforce capability, and meet quality and compliance standards. The Director will oversee a team of Learning Architects, Instructional Designers, Training Specialists, and Training Operations professionals to deliver training across PSC functions, including the contact center and non-commercial pharmacy. Partnering closely with the Innovative Medicine L&D team and cross-functional partners, this leader will drive governance, establish clear ways of working, and foster a culture of continuous learning, development, and organizational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Life Sciences, Business or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Healthcare, Training, Talent Management or related industry experience
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to translate business priorities into long‑term learning roadmaps, frameworks, and investment decisions.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience influencing senior leaders, driving alignment across matrixed environments, and shaping decision‑making
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, build organizational readiness, and foster a culture of continuous learning, growth, and operational excellence

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Learning & Development, Organizational Behavior, Instructional Design or related field.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, including managing multi‑disciplinary L&D teams
  • Experience leading learning functions within a contact center or patient support services environment
  • Proven experience developing and driving enterprise-level learning strategies that support business goals
  • Strong project management and governance capabilities to drive consistent processes, standards, and adoption across teams
  • Strong background in instructional design methodologies, adult learning theory, and modern learning technologies
  • Experience implementing or managing blended learning strategies (in-person, virtual, microlearning, simulation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Experience Platforms (LXP), and analytics tools.
  • Certification in relevant areas (e.g., ATD CPLP/AptD, SHRM-SCP, Prosci Change Management)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic design, direction, and execution of a comprehensive PSC learning strategy that aligns with business, program and capability needs
  • Conduct ongoing training needs assessment to ensure employees have the skills, knowledge, and readiness required to perform effectively.
  • Establish clear priorities, standards, governance and ways of working to support consistent, high-quality learning delivery across PSC.
  • Partner with Operations, Pharmacy, Implementation and Technology teams to ensure new programs, initiatives, and technology changes are supported by intentional, scalable training solutions.
  • Serve as the leadership liaison with the J&J Innovative Medicine Learning Excellence Organization and other enterprise L&D teams.
  • Oversee learning effectiveness measurement by defining learning KPIs, analytics, and reporting to track quality, compliance, productivity and business impact.
  • Lead demand, capability, and capacity planning for training resources, including ownership of the master training calendar and input to budget planning.
  • Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing team of Learning Architects, Instructional Designers, Training Specialists and Training Operations professionals.
  • Foster a high‑trust, high‑performance culture that encourages innovation, development, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with enterprise L&D to support development of transformational capabilities for internal leaders.
  • Represent Learning and Development as a member of the PSC Leadership Team.
  • Ensure timely and compliant delivery of training programs that meet quality, regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with J&J Learn to align enterprise systems, processes and learning infrastructure.
  • Translate operational insights into targeted learning actions, including developing custom training driven by quality monitoring, surveys, AI‑driven insights, and performance analyses.
  • Oversee training effectiveness measurement and continuous improvement, using data to evaluate impact, optimize learning programs, and strengthen long‑term capability.
  • Manage L&D operations to deliver on commitments within scope, timelines and budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
