Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming, inspiring and saving lives in the Palm Beaches and 70 countries around the world. Each year, Jewish Federation inspires thousands of community members to contribute, volunteer and participate in programs that generate more than $30 million to leading a powerful impact in the community. The mission of the Mandel Center for Leadership Development (“Mandel Center”) of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County is to engage and develop high performance volunteer and professional leaders. Its goal is to recruit, inspire, train and retain leaders who have the values, commitment and skills to give high quality leadership to the Jewish Federation. The Director, Leadership Development assists in overseeing program development of a portfolio of leadership programs, creating engagement strategies, event planning and outreach to leaders in the Palm Beach County. You are a curious, collaborative, and creative professional who balances big-picture strategy with thoughtful attention to detail. You take initiative, bring fresh ideas, lead with both humor and heart, and are deeply committed to helping others grow as confident, values-driven leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Non-Profit Management, Organizational Development, Business Management or similar preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years experience in planning or program development required or equivalent relevant combination of education, training and experience.
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Skills in relationship building, multitasking, and project management.
  • Some knowledge of Jewish customs and traditions is required. Ability to infuse Jewish culture, values, traditions and history, into his/her work.
  • Ability to plan and organize assignments independently, to create and develop research and to present information effectively to groups.
  • Strong knowledge of basic office computing, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint) and ability to adapt to organization’s database and business automation software tools.
  • Ability to work extended days to include early morning, evening and weekend events and meetings in addition to the regular work schedule, from time to time required.
  • Someone who takes initiative, is adaptable and can multi-task.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in volunteer management and group facilitation is preferred.
  • Experience working in an organized Jewish community strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, facilitate, and continuously refine leadership learning experiences for lay leaders.
  • Oversee a portfolio of leadership programs, including recruitment, selection, curriculum development, facilitation, and evaluation.
  • Serve as a primary liaison to leadership program participants, prospective participants, and alumni.
  • Build and sustain meaningful relationships that strengthen a connected network of community leaders.
  • Develop alumni engagement strategies that encourage continued involvement, service, and leadership growth.
  • Represent the organization with warmth, professionalism, and integrity in community settings.
  • Develop and implement an evaluation system to monitor the leadership path and growth of relationships among Leadership at the organization.
  • Soliciting for and convene the alumni group to make allocations from the Mandel Center Donor Advised Fund.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify emerging needs and work with Department lead to create new leadership offerings.
  • Develop tools and resources that extend learning beyond formal sessions.
  • Establish and manage evaluation systems to measure leadership growth, program effectiveness, and long-term impact.
  • Track participant engagement, progress, and alumni involvement using CRM and data systems.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and data integrity across leadership initiatives.
  • Supervise and support staff responsible for emerging and early-career leadership programs, as applicable.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to align leadership development with organizational priorities.
  • Contribute to a team culture that values curiosity, accountability, creativity, and shared success.
  • Maintains Federation Leadership document which tracks all boards and committees and notates future plans for individual lay leaders and the specific boards and committees. The document includes Federation boards and committees, task forces, partner agency boards, and national boards. Works in collaboration with the Mandel Center Administrative Professional to oversee data entry into the CRM.
