About The Position

Director of Inventory, Cost & Operations Finance Position Overview: The Director of Operations Finance provides financial leadership across supply chain, logistics, procurement, inventory, and manufacturing. The role oversees operations-related financial reporting, leads cost and inventory analysis, supports procurement performance visibility, and drives process improvements. The role partners closely with all of Supply Chain including Logistics, Procurement, Operations, as well as IT, and Finance to ensure accurate reporting, data‑driven decisions, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, supply chain or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in operations finance, supply chain finance, cost accounting, or manufacturing finance roles.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and execution skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer, with occasional standing and walking.
  • Travel to manufacturing locations and observe operations throughout the manufacturing and warehousing facilities as needed to support projects, up to 25% of the year.
  • Travel to Memphis up to one week per month if based at a plant location.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with supply chain executives to provide financial insights into operations performance (conversion costs, warehousing and logistics, plant overhead, etc.), identify cost drivers, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment between procurement and financial results through accurate reporting and forecasting.
  • Develop and oversee standardized cost accounting processes across the organization, including bill of materials standard policy and process, manufacturing cost roll-ups, and variance analysis.
  • Support annual operating plans, periodic forecasts, and long-range planning for supply chain leaders (Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain SG&A).
  • Lead all aspects of inventory accounting including month-end inventory accounting, excess and obsolete reporting, inventory valuation accuracy, and KPIs.
  • Manage, direct, and monitor cycle counts, physical inventory, and remediation of inventory control issues.
  • Support capital expenditure decisions by preparing CER’s for large return-generating projects over $250K requiring C-Suite or Board level approval; report ROIC results to Execs on those projects on a semi-annual basis; and support engineering, spend monitoring, and fixed asset accounting as needed.
  • Lead company-wide process improvement initiatives and standardized reporting of procurement (PPV), weekly operations (WOR) reporting, cost accounting, freight and warehousing, and inventory management.
  • As the owner of costing and inventory data, processes, and ERP subledger, this role will partner with IT, Operations, and Corporate Finance on system enhancements, data governance, testing and integration projects.
