About The Position

Ensures efficient and orderly administration of the operation of the business and clinical services of the radiology department, including, but not limited to, personnel administration, financial administration and controls, strategic planning, budgeting, product line development, facility and equipment maintenance, quality improvement initiatives and special studies and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Allied Health, or Radiological related field. MBA preferred. Certified Radiology Administrator preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in large hospital setting in Radiology.
  • Knowledge of all Radiology Specialty and administrative procedures. Verbal and written communications skills. Management skills. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Business management skills including strategic planning skills. Budget/fiscal skills. Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates and implements a strategic business plan for the department that will make efficient use of resources and maximizes revenues.
  • Establishes measurable departmental goals and objectives that will assist the departmental management in establishing measures of performance. Increased productivity, cost controls and maximum utilization of facilities. Advises hospital administration when executive action is necessary to accomplish these goals.
  • Manages the development and implementation of administrative systems that allow the monitoring of the overall cost of administration and operation of the department. Takes the necessary corrective action to bring costs in line with the hospital's objectives and strategic plans.
  • Initiates reports to hospital administration with recommendations on strategic planning, policy, organization, control and such other details of the radiology department operation, which may be necessary or desirable for continuity and growth in the organization.
  • Works with hospital administration and department managers to support and coordinate accurate financial and fiscal affairs for the department.
  • Prepares operating and capital budgets as required, monitors and investigates actual expenses and revenues in relation to approved budgets, citing explanations for variances.
  • Selects vendors and product lines for equipment, supplies and services required by the department, subject to the parameters defined by hospital administration and the department chairman.
  • Ensures the data entry of hospital charges is accomplished on a timely basis.
  • Ensures that facilities and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Participates in patient safety initiatives and taking a leadership role when appropriate.
