About The Position

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Global Strategic Marketing to join our $600 Million+ Personal Care business. This position is a hybrid role with weekly travel to our Bridgewater, NJ location. This is a visible, significant role within the Company and commercial function and will report to the SVP and GM, Personal Care. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Serve as a key member of the Personal Care senior leadership team and share responsibility for division-wide business priorities. Work closely with the global Personal Care general manager to implement and drive the Personal Care strategy Identify, develop, and drive key strategic initiatives to enable profitable growth for the Personal Care business Scope of responsibilities span strategic, commercial, and innovation Strategic: Help shape and implement the Personal Care global strategy Lead the annual strategic planning process and support Board of Director and Investor presentations and communications Identify, coordinate and recommend merger & acquisition targets for Personal Care Commercial: Collaborate with the regional Marketing and Sales team to realize commercial initiatives by utilizing market research, business intelligence and competitive analyses Support the development of customer development roadmaps and market trends Innovation: Partner with the regional Marketing team and Technology team across five areas of innovation: (1) new project ideation, (2) project pipeline management, (3) new product introduction sales performance, (4) technical service projects and (5) management of customer briefs Collaborate with regional Marketing on business case development and manufacturing strategies Key stakeholder in the innovation process (project ideation / identification, innovation pipeline management and responsible for working with Sales and R&D to commercialize new product introductions) What This Role Is Not: Not a people management position – while you will collaborate with other team members, this is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. Not an entry level position – we need a candidate to hit the ground running with solid experience and a background to prove it within the Specialty Chemicals space Not a position for someone with a marketing degree. This is a technical role for someone who has been in a technical field and then found their way into B2B marketing

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (science, math or engineering)
  • 10+ years in a strategic and/or technical role influencing commercial and innovation in B2B market
  • Strong experience in the Specialty Materials Industry and consumer products
  • Strategic & analytical thinking skills, collaborative style, and executive presence
  • Ability to be a self-starter, work independently, and function at both strategic and operational levels
