About The Position

Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c). Our success is driven by our people. Director, Global Scientific Training Region: United States and Global Functional Area: Scientific Communications Location: US – Conshohocken, PA – Hybrid Role Summary: The Director of Global Scientific Training leads the design and delivery of scientific training within Madrigal Medical Affairs. This role supports the Medical Affairs and Scientific Communication (Sci Comms) Plans by ensuring alignment and global consistency of training initiatives. The Director collaborates with internal teams (e.g., Field Medical, Health Systems) to provide high-quality, impactful scientific training that enhances effective communication with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and other external stakeholders The position reports to the VP, Scientific Communications (or assigned delegate) and is a hybrid role (three days per week at Conshohocken, PA). All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Madrigal policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in scientific or healthcare discipline (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, DNP, MSc, BSc)
  • Extensive scientific background with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in healthcare, clinical practice, or pharma industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of headquarters experience in Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, or Medical Training, with demonstrated success in leading global or cross-functional training initiatives
  • Proven ability to interpret, communicate, and translate complex scientific and clinical data into clear, relevant, and actionable learning objectives for diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of Scientific Content and Communication trends and landscape
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic planning, cross-functional leadership, and collaboration to align training with scientific communication and medical strategies
  • Proven success in partnering with scientific content teams to ensure scientific alignment, compliance, and consistent messaging across all training materials
  • Ability to strategize and engage effectively with senior leadership and global stakeholders across the business to ensure cohesive learning strategies
  • Strong knowledge of US/EU healthcare systems, global regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, CE), and medical affairs compliance standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom), and CRM systems (e.g., Veeva)
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for conferences, various corporate locations, and stakeholder meetings, including overnight trips

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Alignment Define and prioritize global medical training needs for internal stakeholders (e.g., field medical, medical information, clinical development) and external audiences as appropriate
  • Ensure training strategy and deliverables are fully aligned with Madrigal’s Medical Affairs objectives, Scientific Communication Platform, and overarching scientific narrative
  • Partner with Sci Comms stakeholders and Content leads to align timing, scope, and messaging of training materials with evolving content development plans
  • Develop and manage the annual scientific training plans, including tactical execution, interdependencies, ownership, and budget tracking
  • Incorporate insights from field medical feedback, congress activity, and clinical data updates into ongoing training needs assessments
  • Training Design/Implementation Lead the design and implementation of scientific training programs for Field Medical and internal Medical Affairs teams grounded in adult learning principles, ensuring sessions are engaging, scientifically rigorous, and compliant
  • Partner with Sci Comms and functional leaders to ensure alignment of the transformation of complex scientific data into impactful educational experiences that build scientific acumen and field effectiveness
  • Design and implement a structured scientific onboarding program for new Medical Affairs and Field Medical team members to ensure rapid alignment with Madrigal’s scientific platforms, data, and communication standards
  • Integrate onboarding with core scientific content, compliance expectations, and ongoing learning pathways to promote early field readiness and consistent scientific excellence across global teams
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure consistent, evidence-based messaging across all training resources
  • Develop and deliver diverse training formats (e.g., virtual workshops, live sessions, e-learning modules) to meet evolving needs and are accessible across regions
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through established metrics, learner feedback, and performance outcomes to drive continuous improvement
  • Champion scientific excellence, evidence-based communication, and data-driven decision-making in all training initiatives
  • Team Leadership & Development Foster continuous development through mentoring and training
  • Align medical training initiatives with broader organizational objectives and medical plans.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration Collaborate closely with global, regional, and functional partners (e.g., Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, HEOR) to ensure training priorities align with scientific and strategic objectives
  • Work closely with Sci Comms to ensure training materials accurately reflect current data, key scientific platforms, and approved core content
  • Serve as a liaison between training, medical strategy, and content development teams to maintain scientific accuracy and consistency
  • Partner with external vendors, agencies, and SMEs to develop and deliver high-quality educational materials and scientific resources
  • Support launch readiness and ongoing lifecycle medical activities through targeted training programs and aligned scientific content
  • Congress & External Engagement Contribute to US and global medical congress activities, as needed, including support for scientific content and training
  • Compliance & Quality Ensure all training content meets Madrigal compliance standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical principles
  • Ensure all broader activities comply with company SOPs, industry standards, and applicable regulations
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all external engagements
