About The Position

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost. The Environmental Director is responsible for the stewardship and management with regard to compliance with Venture Global’s environmental procedures, with specific emphasis at the operating assets and the operating pipeline. This person's prime objective will be to ensure that Venture Global LNG’s vision and environmental regulations are reflected and adhered to. Additionally, this person will be responsible for the coordination and reporting of environmental issues and compliance, including reporting on weekly and monthly progress with special attention to business impacts identified. This position is to be located in the Houston office.

Requirements

  • BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 10 or more years of experience in environmental program management in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of EPA and LDEQ regulations
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work within a team with demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and direction, with a strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and provide guidance on environmental compliance matters
  • Collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with coordinating the filing and maintenance of operational waste and water permits
  • Respond to environmental concerns and other emergencies
  • Direct environmental staff to ensure the implementation of all the environmental procedures and standards for all site activities
  • Promote learning and a culture of continuous improvement through knowledge dissemination, initiatives, and compliance and assurance audits.
  • Directly lead and participate in HSE activities and initiatives at the Operating Assets and Pipeline
  • Review the environmental workforce for adequacy, focusing on mentorship and the development of staff, including coordinating with Human Resources on staffing-related activities, including recruiting, hiring, discipline, development, and training of staff.
  • Ensure that environmental training programs are effective and fit for purpose.
  • Plan and assist with preparing the annual environmental budget and cost control process.
