About The Position

Director, Enterprise Risk Organization - Chief of Staff Team The Enterprise Risk Organization (ERO) Chief of Staff Team serves a critical role leading governance and oversight to a number of senior management committee and Board activities, while also supporting broader ERO efforts around strategy, reporting and culture. We are seeking a highly motivated risk management professional with excellent problem solving and communication skills. The ideal candidate has experience partnering with senior leaders and is a big picture thinker who is organized, has a passion to identify and drive continuous improvement, and can deliver innovative solutions. In this chief of staff team role you will have the opportunity to wear many hats and partner across our three lines of defense. You will have a high level of exposure to senior leaders as our team supports them to build and deliver high quality risk reports and presentations. You’ll need to wear many hats including: Project Leader: You’re detailed- and process-oriented and adeptly manage several projects and initiatives at once with supportive direction. You have relentlessly high standards and attention to the smallest details with the ability to adapt to change quickly. You have a passion for people leadership and developing others. Problem-solver: You understand intent and goals for a project, propose plans to meet those needs, and autonomously pursue options to deliver results in a well-managed manner. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of Project or Process Management experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in communications planning or development
  • At least 3 years of experience in staff management or training
  • At least 3 years of experience in organizational development or performance
  • At least 2 years of experience in budget management
  • At least 2 years in strategy consulting or advisory services

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation
  • Experience serving in a Chief of Staff or critical Project Management role in a large, complex, and matrix organization
  • 6+ years of experience in Project or process management
  • 4+ years of experience in Communications planning and development (department communications, leadership team meetings, presentations, memos and reports)
  • 4+ years of experience supporting senior executives and leadership
  • 4+ years of experience in HR, associate experience, or associate engagement roles

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Reporting & Governance team which oversees risk reporting for the Board of Directors, Senior Management Committees (SMCs), and other senior audiences
  • Lead strategy and process execution of the Integrated Risk Management Report (IRMR), Capital One’s primary risk report, which contains the aggregate risk profile for the Company and a view of each risk category.
  • Oversee the processes that support Capital One’s Executive Risk Committee (ERC) and Technology, Operational, Compliance, and Cyber (TOCC), supporting an EC and EVP leader, respectively.
  • Oversee the second line’s sub-certification and attestation process for SEC reporting
  • Deliver and enhance our team’s reporting processes, tools, templates, and job aids
  • Partner horizontally across our three lines of defense and with the Governance & Securities (GovSec) team
  • As needed, offer other ad-hoc consulting or operational support to major chief of staff projects or organizational needs/opportunities
