Performance Measurement & Business Analysis (PMBA) is responsible for aligning enterprise-wide metrics, analysis, reporting and performance measurement tools to drive AARP's strategic and operating performance. PMBA includes a Business Optimization team that provides consulting and advisory services to projects and initiatives where there is an enterprise-wide impact, unknown root cause and/or complex stakeholder interactions. The Director, Data Analytics directs the collection, management, research, and analysis of data to develop insights for use in decision-making and setting business priorities. Directs the production and distribution of reports. Consults with management to discuss data insights and trends. Collaborates with senior management to translate and integrate data into strategic recommendations to ensure continued successful growth and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Economics and 10+ years of experience working in Marketing Analysis, Business Analysis, Corporate Finance, or Consulting.
  • Experience building in-depth quantitative models - e.g. evaluating market and company performance, pricing, discounted cash flow analysis, lifetime value - with the ability to communicate key insights to wide-ranging audiences.
  • Strong negotiating skills with the ability to influence decision making among senior audiences.
  • Experience with conducting organizational analysis and developing strategic plans, including growth strategy, competitive strategy, market size estimation, market entry studies, and new business model development.
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing cross-functional teams with multiple business objectives; proficient at managing multiple projects.
  • Experience in leveraging data and insights to inform digital strategy, programmatic performance, and profitability optimization.
  • Excellent business judgment and ability to recognize implications of data as well as understanding of marketing, finance, and strategy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, curiosity and creativity, ability to collaborate well with others, andability to take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the collection, monitoring, and analysis of critical and key data/metrics, with the goal of improving business performance and/or driving audience work. Works with management teams to develop measurements and frameworks.
  • Analyzes data, which may include multivariate analysis and other complex statistical techniques and uses analysis to create compelling and actionable data stories to share with key stakeholders to drive decisions. Ensures data and analysis quality and accuracy.
  • Manages the process of collecting, providing, distributing, and/or evaluating and maintenance of reports or secondary data sources. Supports and coordinates ad-hoc report/data requests.
  • Provides support to various projects/analysis by gathering data and presenting results, which may include acting as a liaison with technology regarding maintenance of database systems.
  • Improves marketing or program performance by gathering, analyzing, and sharing data and insights. May use skills to deploy data management, web analytics, campaign management, financial analysis, or data modeling.
  • Evaluates existing programs to identify improvements and to measure outcomes. Analyzes and tests current processes and systems to determine effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collects data, performs root cause analysis of issues or problems, and proposes solutions according to the current and future needs of the business.
  • Develops long-term goals and strategic plans to ensure continued successful growth. Studies, analyzes, and monitors the organization’s position within the industry, advising and recommending strategies based on reviews. Coordinates and integrates division plans with the organization’s business goals and objectives. Reviews achievement of performance versus strategic plans. Communicates performance results with senior management. Advises and recommends strategies based on reviews.
