The Director of Business Development will expand and operationalize ShopMy's network, reporting directly to the Chief Business Development Officer. This role is responsible for architecting and scaling ShopMy's business development engine — from top-of-funnel acquisition to high-signal partnerships and strategic investor expansion. You will operate at the intersection of creator, brand, and capital, driving the relationships that define ShopMy's category leadership and long-term enterprise value. This role is for a builder, operator, and dealmaker who thrives on opening doors, shaping markets, and winning high-stakes partnerships.

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years in business development, partnerships, or sales in high-growth environments
  • Proven track record of closing high-value, relationship-driven deals
  • Experience building or scaling BD functions, including referral or connector-based programs
  • Deep understanding of the creator, brand, and cultural landscape
  • Strong network across creators, brands, talent agencies, or operators
  • Exceptional ability to open doors and build trust quickly
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking — able to prioritize markets and opportunities with data
  • Comfortable operating as both operator and closer
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM and outbound tooling
  • Familiarity with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) and how they can enhance BD workflows

Responsibilities

  • Build & Scale the BD Engine: Stand up and refine ShopMy's business development function — including systems, tooling, outbound motion, referral loops, and connector-led acquisition strategies. Build a repeatable engine while maintaining high-touch, high-quality outreach and relationship management.
  • Expand + Activate ShopMy's Strategic Investor Network: Lead the sourcing, onboarding, and activation of strategic investors (creators, brand founders, executives, and cultural leaders). Drive measurable outcomes from this network including introductions, partnerships, and revenue expansion.
  • Win High-Leverage Accounts: Personally lead the acquisition of top-tier creators, brands, and strategic partners that materially increase ShopMy's GMV, brand equity, and market positioning. Operate as a player-coach, closing priority deals while building a team beneath you.
  • Optimize ShopMy's Connector Program: Own and scale ShopMy's Connector Program — a curated network of high-value external partners who actively introduce and unlock relationships across our ecosystem. Leverage this network to drive measurable outputs (qualified intros, conversions, GMV impact) and recruit and activate connectors across new verticals, geographies, and cultural pockets.
  • Execute High-Signal Partnerships + Activations: Identify, negotiate, and close flagship partnerships, celebrity deals, and major activations that elevate ShopMy's brand, reinforce its cultural authority, and generate outsized inbound demand.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Creator Growth, Brand Growth, Marketing, and Strategy & Ops to ensure BD efforts translate into activation, revenue, and long-term value.
