About the Role: We’re looking for a Director, Business Development - Commercial Evaluation to help us expand what’s possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the VP, Head of Business Development, the Director, Business Development will play a key role in the commercial evaluation of strategic external business opportunities across a variety of therapeutic areas.

Requirements

  • You must have either a Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years’ experience, a Master’s degree (ideally an MBA) with 4+ years’ experience, or a PhD and 2+ years’ experience, with a degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Neurology, or other related discipline.
  • 5+ years of business experience, preferably in Pharma/Biotech (BD and/or commercial strategy groups).
  • Experience in the life sciences, medical, or health care industry.
  • In depth experience with competitive Intelligence (CI).
  • Strong knowledge of disease areas (Respiratory, Inflammation, Immunology, and CNS/rare), drug development activities, and commercial processes.
  • In-depth understanding of commercial forecasting, market access, pricing, launch requirements and use of epidemiology data.
  • Advanced business and commercial acumen to include commercial forecasting and modeling.
  • Experience working in a matrixed team environment with ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
  • Ability to partner with internal commercial SMEs in developing and evolving due diligence findings to drive decision making.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and influencing internal and external groups.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial analyses and evaluation and prepare written/oral summaries and presentations of the uncovered information related to new product acquisitions or mergers to senior management.
  • Continuously scout, monitor, and evaluate competing companies and news that might affect the business case.
  • Analyze market trends, industry dynamics, and competitive landscapes to identify market and growth opportunities.
  • Lead and conduct strategic, market, and competitive analyses of business development opportunities.
  • Lead primary and secondary market research for BD.
  • Mentor and manage members of your team and the BD team as needed.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with teams such as Commercial, Market Access, Sales, Research, Clinical, Finance, and Legal.
  • Establish external and internal networks to support market intelligence and identification of relevant business transformation opportunities for growth.
  • Attend external partnering and life science conferences and meetings.
