About The Position

The Director of Business Analytics and Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight of Webster University’s philanthropic data infrastructure, analytics, reporting, and database services. This role ensures the integrity, accessibility, and effective use of donor and giving data to inform decision-making, strengthen donor engagement, and support Webster University’s comprehensive campaign. Serving as the institutional lead for philanthropic analytics and CRM operations within Community Resource Development, the Director ensures strong data integrity, robust reporting capability, and responsive operational services that support fundraising and institutional priorities. This position plays a central role in transforming data into actionable intelligence that guides donor strategy, campaign planning, and organizational effectiveness. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Community Resource Development, the Director supervises business analytics and database services staff and ensures systems, reporting, and workflows function cohesively and effectively. This role partners closely with fundraising staff, leadership, and university stakeholders to ensure data and reporting support effective donor engagement and philanthropic growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, information systems, business administration, nonprofit management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in philanthropic operations, advancement services, fundraising database management, business analytics for philanthropy or related field within higher education or nonprofit organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a philanthropic CRM system, such as Jenzabar, Raiser’s Edge, RENXT, Salesforce, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience developing reports and analytics to support giving strategy and campaign activity.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and leading operational functions.
  • Strong understanding of donor database management, gift administration, stewardship, and philanthropic reporting practices.
  • High proficiency in Excel and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and serve as the institutional lead for Webster University’s philanthropic CRM system (Jenzabar), including system optimization, reporting architecture, and functionality.
  • Establish and maintain standards, policies, and practices that ensure data integrity, system effectiveness, and appropriate use of CRM and reporting tools.
  • Ensure the CRM serves as a reliable and authoritative source for donor, prospect, and gift information that supports fundraising strategy, campaign planning, and decision-making.
  • Oversee database services supporting donor records, gift processing, pledges, stewardship documentation, and reporting.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and responsive reporting and database services that support fundraising and donor engagement.
  • Establish service standards, workflows, and quality controls that ensure confidence in donor data and operational processes.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to fundraising staff, providing data, reporting, and operational support that strengthens donor engagement efforts.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and professional development to business analytics and database services staff.
  • Establish clear goals, performance standards, and operational priorities aligned with organizational and campaign objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented team culture focused on responsiveness, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen systems, workflows, and operational effectiveness across Community Resource Development.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of donor, prospect, and philanthropic data.
  • Partner with Finance, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, and institutional stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation of philanthropic activity.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, reporting standards, and data governance practices.
  • Support institutional planning and campaign strategy through accurate data management and reporting infrastructure.
