About The Position

The Director, Business Affairs leads talent, contracts, and rights management across broadcast and integrated production. This role partners closely with Producers, Creative, Legal, and Finance to ensure all work is compliant, contractually sound, and executed efficiently. The Director brings expertise in talent negotiations, union requirements, and licensing, enabling teams to deliver high-quality creative within regulated environments. This role operates as a key advisor and problem solver across projects, balancing risk, compliance, and creative ambition.

Requirements

  • 10+ years managing talent, contracts, and licensing within an agency or broadcast production environment, including global vendor agreements and compliance.
  • 6+ years in 360 production with hands-on experience in broadcast workflows, union (SAG-AFTRA/ACTRA) requirements, and talent negotiations.
  • 4–6 years leading teams or functions, including training, performance management, and overseeing contract processes or business affairs operations.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating contracts, releases, and licensing agreements with measurable scope (e.g., multi-market or high-value productions).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Smartsheet, PowerPoint, and Google Suite, with evidence of building templates, trackers, or scalable processes.

  • Experience working with life sciences or pharmaceutical clients within regulated environments and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience working internationally or managing cross-border productions, including global talent and vendor coordination.
  • Background working with casting agencies, talent unions, or talent representation firms with demonstrated negotiation outcomes.
  • Experience developing or teaching business affairs, production, or contract best practices within an agency setting.
  • Comfort operating in dynamic, evolving environments where processes may be fluid and require sound judgment over strict adherence
  • Ability to navigate complex personalities and build trust across diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Creative, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to think beyond traditional approaches

Responsibilities

  • Lead talent negotiations and contract execution for SAG-AFTRA, ACTRA, and non-union talent across broadcast and integrated production projects.
  • Oversee rights and licensing for content, including music, video, and image assets, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Producers of varying levels, Legal, and Finance to structure vendor agreements, talent contracts, and payment processes.
  • Develop and manage contract templates, business affairs processes, and documentation using tools like Excel, Smartsheets, and Google Suite.
  • Manage talent, vendor, and agency relationships while supporting casting, broadcast trafficking, and network clearance activities.
