About The Position

The biomedical communications director leads three creative teams (Graphics/Medical Illustration, Photography, Video) and one service team (Center City AV) that comprise our media services division. This position is part of the Academic Commons, and the director attends weekly director-level meetings with the other Academic Commons leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biomedical communications or related fields.
  • A minimum of 3 year’s experience supervising multiple staff and leading one or more teams.
  • Experience managing a departmental budget.
  • Experience with planning and supporting learning spaces and knowledge of AV systems used in educational spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the staff and manage the department’s budget, including billed services.
  • Responsible for supervising 4.5 direct reports.
  • Establish appropriate pricing and billing for services and operating with budget.
  • Support the design of new instructional and conference spaces within the university’s Center City buildings and, on occasion, at satellite teaching locations.
  • Works with the facilities and IS&T as needed for classroom/conference room maintenance, connectivity, lighting, and sound for continuously improving the learning environment.
  • Serves on the Academic Commons management team working with the Directors to accomplish strategic planning and integrate knowledge services for the University.
  • Participate in departmental projects, services and teaching.
  • Engage in professional development activities to stay current in the biomedical communications field.
