We're hiring the Director - AI Governance to join our global Cencora team. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of AI Governance and Responsible Data Practices is responsible for leading the implementation and evolution of Cencora’s global AI, Privacy, and Responsible Data Governance Frameworks. This role balances the need for a cohesive global framework with local regulatory and business-specific requirements, ensuring compliance with evolving AI-related regulations while driving operational efficiencies. The Director will work cross-functionally across technology, HR, legal, and data governance teams to design, implement, and operationalize processes that ensure robust AI risk management throughout its lifecycle while advancing enterprise-driven value and risk management priorities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in AI governance frameworks, privacy compliance, and data governance, particularly in healthcare and health data environments. They will bring a proven track record in implementing frameworks, creating efficient processes, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders in a matrix organization.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Business or related field. Bachelor’s degree in Privacy, Data Governance, Political Science, Public Administration, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or Juris Doctor) preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience working with multi-national and/or global clients and providing guidance, advice, and counseling in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Solid working knowledge of and experience in federal/state/international and industry privacy laws and regulations.
  • Deep knowledge of AI governance frameworks, privacy regulations, and data governance best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements for AI and data privacy across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in presenting complex concepts to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor teams while driving results.
  • Ability to evaluate complex issues, develop innovative solutions, and implement effective processes.

  • Personal computer skills to include competency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and preferably Smart Sheet and OneTrust.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of Cencora’s global AI, Privacy, and Responsible Data Governance Frameworks, balancing global consistency with local regulatory requirements.
  • Design and evolve key components of the AI, Privacy, and Responsible Data Governance Frameworks to meet new business challenges and regulatory needs.
  • Focus on the AI Governance Framework, ensuring its efficient management, continuous evolution, and compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the AI lifecycle.
  • Partner with the data governance team to establish processes that ensure data onboarded into AI solutions is of high quality, has clear lineage, and adheres to data rights.
  • Foster a culture of Responsible AI Governance, educating stakeholders across the organization on its importance and best practices.
  • Bring together key stakeholders across technology, HR, legal, and data governance teams to align AI strategy and privacy requirements.
  • Operationalize and lead AI Centre of Excellence (AI COE) meetings, ensuring alignment on priorities, deliverables, and governance strategies.
  • Partner with legal and other critical stakeholders to build and support new frameworks for data regulations and AI governance, ensuring the organization is proactive in responding to the evolving external landscape.
  • Develop and deliver tactical and operational plans, prioritizing high-value and efficiency-building activities while appropriately allocating resources and budget.
  • Advance enterprise-driven value and risk management priorities to ensure continued compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Leverage data insights to highlight best practices, identify efficiencies, and uncover opportunities for improvement in AI governance and privacy practices.
  • Provide leadership to managers and professional staff, guiding and mentoring direct reports and ensuring alignment with established policies.
  • Coordinate complex activities across multiple work areas and oversee results, including cost, methods, and staffing.
  • Manage external vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure seamless integration of deliverables and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges, providing strategic solutions to senior management regarding policies and processes.
  • Drive significant improvements to processes, systems, and practices that enhance overall performance and compliance in privacy and AI governance.
  • Foster a culture of Responsible AI Governance, educating stakeholders across the organization on its importance and best practices.
