The Director, Advisor Practice Management is an execution and enablement leader responsible for driving alignment, focus, and forward momentum across the Advisory organization. This role ensures that the right initiatives are prioritized and delivered, enhancing advisor satisfaction, effectiveness, scalability, and ultimately the client experience. Serving as a critical connector across the firm, the Director partners closely with Advisory leadership, advisors, and cross-functional stakeholders including Operations, Technology, Compliance, Finance, and HR. This individual translates strategy and ideas into well-defined initiatives, drives disciplined execution, and builds strong feedback loops to ensure continuous progress and improvement. This role is ideal for a highly organized, improvement-minded leader who thrives in a fast-paced, distributed environment and is equally comfortable operating at strategic and tactical levels—bringing clarity, structure, and momentum to complex work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in advisory operations, practice management, strategy, consulting, or program/project management within an RIA, asset manager, or professional services environment.
  • Proven ability to lead end-to-end execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives, translating strategy into measurable outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of advisor business models, workflows, and the operational realities of advisory teams operating at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a bridge between business users and functional partners, including Technology, Operations, and Compliance.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills; comfortable influencing and presenting to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • High level of judgment and comfort operating in ambiguity, with the ability to balance forward momentum with thoughtful alignment.
  • Execution-oriented leader with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through; able to adapt and reprioritize as business needs evolve.
  • Credible partner to advisors and senior leaders, with the ability to influence outcomes without formal authority.
  • Structured, analytical thinker who brings clarity, discipline, and focus to complex or evolving problems.

Responsibilities

  • Execution Lead Own execution of initiatives across Advisory, ensuring work is clearly scoped, prioritized, and delivered on time.
  • Translate advisory strategy into executable roadmaps, milestones, and workplans, balancing near-term operational needs with longer-term platform evolution.
  • Establish and maintain project management and operating rhythms (prioritization, dependency tracking, decision logs, progress reporting).
  • Proactively identify and drive resolution of risks, bottlenecks, and misalignment within and across teams.
  • Support communication and change management (including training) for new processes, tools, and organizational shifts impacting advisors.
  • Advisory Enablement & Team Coordination Coordinate cross-functional efforts involving Technology, Operations, Compliance, Finance, and other key teams to ensure advisory initiatives are well-integrated and realistic.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues across existing workflows.
  • Ensure clarity of ownership, decision rights, and handoffs across teams.
  • Data, Insights & Continuous Improvement Oversee analytical support for advisory initiatives, including business case development, KPI tracking, and performance measurement.
  • Use data and qualitative insights to inform prioritization, capacity planning, and continuous improvement efforts.
