About The Position

The Adult Skills Center (TASC) provides innovative and proactive services that empower individuals with diverse intellectual, developmental, and mental health needs to achieve their highest level of Independence and realize their greatest potential. The Supported Employment Direct Support Specialist ensures assistance is provided as needed for program operations and clients. This role involves providing job coaching for newly hired clients in the community, assisting them with adjusting, acclimating, and learning new jobs. The specialist will work with case managers and job developers to identify challenges and ensure the best outcomes for clients, and participate in new hire orientation for clients offered employment in the community. Primary duties include orienting the client to the work setting, modeling all job duties and working alongside the client in each employment setting, adhering to the dress code, company policies, and culture on the client employer, developing and following a checklist that identifies all job duties that must be completed during the workday, completing daily care notes and/or data sheets, training the client to complete their assigned job duties to employer expectations, teaching the client appropriate workplace behavior, assisting the client in developing professional relationships with co-workers, and providing support, instruction, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and advocacy to ensure job success. The specialist also assists the client in developing goals for the Individual Habilitation Services Plan (IHSP), assists the client in achieving the goals identified on their IHSP, participates in the client’s IPP meeting, and participates in facilitating employment classes for clients. Other duties include performing other assigned duties, performing other off-site duties as assigned, and participating in weekly meetings, trainings, etc. as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Required to complete 40-hour ACRE training and obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Requires initiative, creativity and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills necessary.
  • Must be able to successfully complete First Aid/CPR.
  • Must have current California Driver’s license/Insurance and clean DMV.
  • Must receive criminal record clearance through the DOJ.
  • Must have reliable vehicle, proof of insurance, a valid California driver license and driving record acceptable to TASC insurance provider.
  • After hours and open availability required.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in English.
  • Maintain all certifications up to date.
